Tried an OS in Bridgewater--Town Line Farm. It's a beautiful farm with trail through fields and woods on top of a hill. It was very windy and overcast though so we turned around after a short time and opted to go for a more wooded hike. Parked at the Jane Pratt OS which is across and up the road a bit. About .7 miles total.

Then went to Roxbury and parked on Judd's Bridge Road, a dirt road that we used to run on quite a bit when we did the Roxbury road races. Hiked about .7 miles in the Battle Swamp preserve to Battle Swamp Rd, a dirt road that joins up with Judd's Bridge road at the bridge over the Shepaug River. Then along the road back to the car. Loop was about 2.2 miles. No wind here given the trees and lower elevation.

Cheney Pond and Lester Flow on Boreas River, in the Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest of the central Adirondacks; about 7 miles from our Airbnb cabin.

About 1/2 miles to Cheney pond and then another 2 miles to Lester Flow. Couple of inches of snow on the trail and we were the first to make tracks. The trail was beautiful but when we arrived at the river, we didn't really see a dam or the panoramic views that were advertised. The river was lined with trees so you can't see much beyond them. Wore spikes again but there were only a few places with ice. Temps about 24 degrees again but it felt a bit warmer than yesterday with less of a breeze.

Treadway Mtn in the Pharaoh Wilderness area of the Adirondacks

Nice hike with pond views and streams for the first couple of miles then gradual ascent to summit with nice view to the south and Pharaoh lake. Couple of inches of snow generally with packed snow and occasional ice on the trail, about 23 degrees. Wore microspikes. Summit is about 2200 feet. About 45 minutes from our Airbnb cabin.
