Orienteering race (Classic) 1:08:34 [3] 6.0 km (11:26 / km) +190m 9:52 / km

West Point, Green X, Classic

Decent run. Very slow on the side hill to 2 and then down from it. I hate this kind of control--no navigation challenge. Couldn't find the bend in the trail to 6 so just went up over the hill and saw it. Went a little to the left to 7 and then back to it. Took the road to 8, using the same AP I saw on the road going to 3. Very slow going through swamp and prickers to 17 then climbed up the hill and had to climb over deadfall to get to it. Went NE and around the swamp to leave it. Enjoyed the sprint area. I go so slow in this terrain that I had plenty of energy left to jog through it.

Orienteering race (sprint) 18:12 [3] 2.18 km (8:21 / km) +75m 7:07 / km

West Point, sprint, O/Br/G course

Good run. Hesitated at an earlier control on my way to #1 and then continued through the woods to #1. Couldn't read all the stairs well on my way to #11 and ended up on the one a bit to the left of the control. Had some difficulty seeing the roads and some other features on the map.

Orienteering race (Middle) 46:08 [3] 3.37 km (13:41 / km) +100m 11:55 / km

West Point, Middle distance, Green X

A few bobbles but mostly a good run. Went up past the building and then through the briars and rocks to #1. Dropping down to the lower road and then up to the control may have been faster but I was already heading in the direction of the building before I noticed it. Slow slog up the hill to #2 but no problems. A little to the east on #3 but then found it quickly. For #5, found the control on the cliff near my #5 and then went to mine. Took the road to #6. A little low on 7 but saw it up the hill. Didn't see the fence to 8 so had to run to the left to get through. Very slow picking my way down the hill to 10.
