Prince William Forest, VA. I went about going to additional locations where I might make course adjustments, and for some of the existing locations, I updated control codes and the relevant mapping in the vicinity. I was moving slowly, not quite awake. Most of the time I walked but I was able to jog some too. I've been getting sick. First it was Max, then Peggy, and now me. At least my injury is getting better.

Prince William Forest, VA. I went about going to additional locations where I might make Royal Romp course adjustments. For some of the existing locations, I updated control codes and the relevant mapping in the vicinity. I tested some legs and did pretty well navigating. I jogged a lot more on this loop stopped to update the map too. Keeping moving kept me warm but I'm probably more sick from being outside in the cool 40-50 F day.
I went out to pickup a few things for Max's birthday. In a rush, I tried a little jog from the parking lot to Panera Bread. The injury when I fell on Tuesday gave me enough sharp pain that I stopped just about right away. It's inside my abdomen in the soft tissue. I'm probably out for the Mid-Atlantics.

Prince William Forest, VA. I got back to the park on my day off to check remaining control sites for the QOC Royal Romp that's being held in March 2023. This wasn't quite as nice a day as it was last Saturday--it was overcast and in the upper 40s F. I didn't feel as smooth doing precise navigation for control placement--it came more slowly. Besides setting controls, I spent some time streamering some potentially hazardous wire that I came across I found a trail that had gotten rerouted too so I spent time getting a track and making map update notes for it. In another place, I spent time clearing brush off of a route.

Prince William Forest, VA. On this loop, I was moving better and traversing a technical area for the first part. In an easier area and on a trail and reading the map at a jog, I tripped my right foot on tree roots and took a hard fall on my right side. I also ripped skin off my palm, making it bloody. I lay down for a short while and walked it off. Besides the bruising, I probably strained some abdominal muscles. They didn't feel so good as I went on. It was reminiscent of when I was setting courses for an US Ultra-Long in 2015(?), and I had a similar fall--that preceded my first round of back troubles. So far, my back seems okay.
Orienteering (Course Setting) 1:15:49**** 3.08 mi (24:37 / mi) +110m22:09 / mi spiked:7/7c (injured)
Prince William Forest, VA. For my last loop, I was trying to get done while there was good light. Things were going good for a while but in a bland area, I looked for a rootstock and wasn't sure that I found the right one. There was not much to line it up with nearby. I did an extra loop and came back to the same rootstock. It was technically over 2 meters but most of that was because of 1 or 2 small wooden parts rising out of the top of the root ball. I got though an additional technical and physical area pretty well afterward.
When I got home I got a bad leg cramp in my right hamstring. I hadn't been drinking enough during the daytime. My right side hurt in a couple of places from the fall I'd taken on the 2nd loop of the day. I couldn't tell if one of the places was abdominal muscle or intestinal. The other was bruising on the right hip but both made it uncomfortable walking sometimes.
