Patuxent River Park, MD. NJROTC, MD. I started off with John Baker. Bob Turbyfell got several controls near the start and Peggy picked up others so I thought this would go fairly quickly. However, I didn't realize how much the stakes weighed. I also had some radio items and a water control to get. I was only about 5 controls and radio stops into the loop before it became impractical to run. There was one outlier control so I was able to drop a pile, run out to get it, then come back. It had been drizzling and was still cold. One control was in the middle of a very muddy ditch. My feet got wet and partly numb. The worst was having to cross a creek that I'd usually just jump over or splash through. By this point, I had to use two arms to carry the stakes, trash, and a bag of controls and radio stuff. With the load, I had to walk through the cold water. My feet were just about all numb after that. Once I got onto a trail it was easier. I got the stakes on my shoulder.
