Orienteering race 1:18:38 [3] *** 9.9 km (7:57 / km)
spiked:16/17c shoes: VJ Falcons #1

Peaceful Valley. Pretty simple and straightforward navigation, just a matter of how fast one could run. Since I was just off a travel rush, with very little sleep, and had just arrived at altitude, I wasn't so fast. The one error was mistaking some unmapped rock for the cliff I ws looking for, and overshooting -- turned around quickly because there was an obvious fence in front of me. Caught Troy at #12 and we were together the rest of the way.

Still bumping up the pull-ups this month and holding steady on the other -ups. Have to see if I can keep this stuff going while I'm in Colorado, rather than lapsing like I did last week. Encouragement from others would be welcome!

Note

We camped Sunday night at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park just outside of Moose Jaw. This would have been a great place for an orienteering meet! Quite different from what you might expect from Saskatchewan, pretty steep, includes a downhill ski area. Kind of like Laramie, kind of like what I think some of the nicer Bay Area terrain might be like, open hillsides with patches of trees in the reentrants. If the club in this province wants to promote orienteering, this sort of stuff would be a much better choice than Eb's Trails.
