Orienteering race 1:01:27 [4] *** 5.74 km (10:42 / km) +210m 9:03 / km
spiked:9/12c

Lake George, Green (leg 3), US Relay Champs. Mostly a decent run, though I definitely wasted time on the route and the putting on #6, and executed #8 very badly. Never saw another Green runner out there. Team (Neal Barlow, Joel Swisher, Mikell Platt) finished 5th overall, 3rd US.

Orienteering race 55:26 [4] *** 6.23 km (8:54 / km) +300m 7:10 / km
spiked:7/9c

New New Blue Mountain, A-meet, Red. Much better day, only two small hesitations near controls to figure out which rock feature was which. Moving well, though still not very fast on the uphills.

Orienteering race 55:29 [4] *** 5.97 km (9:18 / km) +175m 8:06 / km
spiked:9/11c

Manitou Lake, A-meet, Night-O Champs, Red. Lost 4 minutes on #1 and got caught by the eventual winner there, but then got away and it took him the rest of the race to catch back up and finish a few steps ahead of me. Hatlamp worked great, and I had a pretty clean time out there. Silver in M40, about 90 seconds behind Eglinski, 5th overall on Red (the other three were all Scandis). Yeah!

Buena Vista, A-meet, Red, sections of smooth navigation punctuated by intermittent moments of being baffled inside the circle.

Canoe-O race 2:02:17 [2] **
spiked:7/13c

Whitehall Reservoir, paddling stern in Stealth Boat with Sam Levitin in the bow. Demonstrated my ineptness as a stern paddler, as I couldn't keep the boat going in a straight line, and resorted to rudder techniques far too often. Sent Sam off on the first two running sections, took the third section (around the south end of the lake) myself, and let him climb over one island in an attempt to save a little more time. We were right on the edge of the 2-hr time limit for doing the remainder of the Long course when we finished the Advanced, but since we had started late, it was appropriate to call it a day at that point. Third place on Advanced, behind Darrell Scott and Jon Campbell (both in kayaks).
