ran to and from the gym for some high rep weights. i could kind of feel that knee cap in the center now. i think it will be fine but needs another couple days off probably - i'm tapering anyway.

hr data was way off. i need a new battery.

did hips (abductor and adductor), shoulders, 1 set of abs, tris

Strength Training (bridge) 4:10 [3]

Note
(rest day)

got my chit together and headed to orcas for colin/biz's wedding. took the whole day off and ate sushi like it was my job. body feels good. knee feels fine throughout the day but i think if i ran or bounded up stairs it's still not ready to run on.. or it's ready but i should let it heal more.

feel good today. i can kind of feel my knee and i was tired this morning but have lots to do before heading to orcas for colin/bizzy's wedding.

need to be better about getting my 8hrs of sleep! this if increasingly important in the last two week - which is now! going to start getting up at 5am which is the time i'll get up for the race - gotta change the sleep pattern. (yes i know how over the top that sounds).

need to ice my knee a bunch today. didn't hurt during spin last night but i could feel it.

Cycling (road) 1:19:53 [2] 18.87 mi (4:14 / mi) +728ft 4:05 / mi
ahr:100 max:130 slept:7.0

ride back from lynnwood to get jeep windows fixed and to ballard to pick up the van... $780 later the vw has a new muffler! i need to start selling drugs - endurance athlete doesn't pay like it should.

first 30min i was thinking it was dumb to be on the bike bc my right knee hurt. i was even looking for somewhere to buy ibu. but then it just sort of ironed itself out and felt fine. i still need to take 1-2 whole days off it, no ride, no run. that will be hard on orcas for this wedding.

Cycling (road) 19:41 [2] 3.66 mi (5:23 / mi) +184ft 5:08 / mi

rode to spin, then fred myer and back with full heavy pack of groceries.

Yoga (SMB Flow) 1:00:00 [3]

great flow yoga. fast flow.

Strength Training (high rep) 5:54 [3]

shoulders, some stretching

good sleep. woke up naturally today. i feel great. not tired, and most suprising to me was i have no muscle soreness. not after 45 miles with 10,000ft of gain, not after 15 then 21 the two following days. i must be in shape.

i can still feel the right knee pain behind the knee cap.
also my left ball of foot is sore.

Cycling (spin class) 56:02 [4] 18.0 mi (3:07 / mi)
ahr:130 max:158 slept:8.0

had more energy and drive than i thought i would. worked pretty hard. ate like an ass again, i think it's residual from the last few days of running appetite. so i felt full all through class.

Strength Training (high rep) 17:30 [3]
slept:8.0

one set of abs, chest, tris, abductor, abs, shoulders, bi and chest again. super high reps 18-30, just to remind those muscles not do dissapear with all the running.

Cycling (road) 13:11 [2] 2.04 mi (6:28 / mi) +180ft 5:58 / mi

ride to and from teaching spin class

sean meissner's training camp: day 3
sean and i ran 20 miles of the mckenzie river trail 50k course before i headed home. great trail, net loss. knee hurt first couple hours, was then ok. once again felt like hammering the last few miles and sean joined in on the fun... once again.. dood can run. we ran some 6:50's, then 7:14's.. i slowed to 8/min miles, had a gel and picked it up again. great run. 5 min soak in the river after. awesome way to finish the training camp.

sean meissner's training camp: day 2
me, sean meissner and ashley nordell ran tumalo falls trail, up farewell trail to metolius windigo to bridge creek and back. they were fried. i started feeling pain in my right knee under the knee cap to the left. ibu helped. it came and went. the last couple miles i picked up the pace. sean followed, ashley wasn't into it. we ran some sub 6/min miles .. so much fun we were flying. sean is an awesome runner.

Running (trail) 14:02:40 [4] 44.07 mi (19:07 / mi) +10226ft 15:41 / mi

sean meissner's training camp: day 1
i'm still suffering from giardia which made this whole day a bit more interesting... but me, sean meissner and ashley nordell ran around the three sisters (which are 10,000 foot peaks in oregon) with a summit of the south sister - 45 miles and 10,226 feet of gain. the 3hr descent of the west side of the mountain was gnarly... with no trail and loose boulders. left some of my scalp on the way down and almost my life. very very scary.

not sure why but i listened to sean when he said we didn't need lights. what planet do you plan an adventure run that "should" take 12hrs and not take a headlamp?! i was very mad at myself when we spent 3 hrs hiking/running in the darkness. when we got back the window of ashely's jetta was broken and my bag, wallet, arcteryx pants and jacket among other things were stolen. fuckers.

blog coming soon. great run though, beautiful amazing terrain and scenery.

removed 30 min lunch at alpine lake below summit, we also treated water adn took our time but figured i'd take the big glaring 30 min of no running out.

around 8,500ft sean and i both felt the altitude. i got light headed but it went away after about 10-15 minutes even as we continued to climb higher. this is a bit concerning for my grand teton 100 as it starts at 6,000ft and goes to 9,840ft. oh well, that is what living at sea level gets ya.

hr zone
inside 7:17:50 below 6:57:30 over none!
