6 PM

Run 45:00 intensity: (41:00 @2) + (4:00 @3)
shoes: Saucony Progrid Ride 11/9/2009

Level 8 hills. Brought up the speed at the end.

Run 55:00 intensity: (41:00 @2) + (12:00 @3) + (2:00 @4)
shoes: Salomon SpeedCross 2 2009

TNT. Eric and Tom there. I ran with Tom and we were generally pretty easy. I tried to work the one big hill and pushed pretty hard the last 20. Cooled down around the school and slowed down with Eric.

9 PM

Run 30:00 [2]
shoes: 9 2007 Adidas

After the great seafood buffet at the RCOP, I went to the gym. And survived, but barely.

Weight training 30:00 [3]

Weights and circuits. Cleans were OK today.

Run 1:00:00 intensity: (40:00 @2) + (15:00 @3) + (5:00 @4)
shoes: Salomon SpeedCross 2 2009

TNT.

Got there late, and tried to redeem myself by keeping it firm. Did a half-Indian in 26:30, which I believe is 1 minute faster than before. Rolling along.

Then down Forbidden until the first steepish decline, and back. Did a bit of running around Sandy's to round out the hour.

Note

62 * 1024 * 8 * 10 * 1 / 1000000 ~= 5 Mbit/s?

That is 3G. Not great resolution, but maybe this could work.

I wish I was motivated to expend my energies towards things with more commercial relevance than orienteering, but I really have so little interest in that...

$2,000-$4,000. Raising the bar: priceless.

Note

Would it be inappropriate to have an orienteering event, or at least a map, sponsored by these guys ?
9 PM

Run 35:00 intensity: (28:00 @2) + (5:00 @3) + (2:00 @4)
shoes: Salomon SpeedCross 2 2009

Easy run over to Penncrest. Mostly around the fields, but then a few brisk laps (one at 80) around the track. And back.

Run warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: Spring 2009 Integrators

"Warm-up"--the most superfluous warm-up ever, maybe?

Orienteering race 18:19 intensity: (13:19 @4) + (5:00 @5) ***
shoes: Spring 2009 Integrators

DVOA Green Lane stage 1.

Like a sprint, and bloody hot. Decent run, but a little rough during the middle.

Orienteering race 33:59 [4]
shoes: Spring 2009 Integrators

DVOA Green Lane stage 2.

The long pause and change in scale got me on the first leg. Lost maybe 1.5 minutes there. Also, an odd sensation--I felt like I was naked on the first leg. A combination of tights and the airflow generated by running in that oppressive heat...

Started dragging a little at the end, but Vadim didn't.

Map hike 3:00:00 [1]
shoes: Salomon SpeedCross 2 2009

Egypt Mills and then Loch Lomond.

A little longer than recorded time, but we were going quite slowly. I did a little jogging here and there.

Egypt Mills pretty much as expected, Loch Lomond a little worse.

But, it is also a little unfair--I always envisioned LL as a great relay venue; now it is being asked to support a middle.

Still, I think it is like cooking. I gave Harvey the truffle oil, chanterelles, and jamón ibérico. I kept the Spam for myself. But, if I want to earn my third star, I need to make a masterpiece out of challenging ingredients. I'm sure I can do it. Harvey can just connect the dots.

Run 1:00:00 intensity: (5:00 @1) + (15:00 @2) + (35:00 @3) + (5:00 @4)

Normal RCOP workout. But, it felt tough today.

Weight training 25:00 [3]

Normal RCOP weights, but cut short after 25. A little burning in the lower neck caused me to abbreviate the squats. But curls and lunges were OK, so I almost got the same benefit.

Wasted by the end of this.
