Map Hike/Run 1:00:00 [1]

Visiting control locations for Ridley.

On Sunday we realized that permissions were not available for the expected event staging area, and I will need to redo the courses.

Not happy.

Mixed pace. Generally at 20 spm, but from 20 to 25, it was faster.

Orienteering race 3:09:00 [3] 18.5 km (10:13 / km) +700m 8:35 / km
shoes: October 2010 Oroc 280

Susquehanna Stumble. A colossal failure tactically and pretty poor all around.

Started out unnecessarily fast and then too independent to want to run with anyone. Mostly a reflection of lack of confidence in my current abilities (which are marginal, but would have served me better than I allowed them to.) En ce temps-là I would have let the race come to me. Instead, I tried to take it, had nowhere to put it, and got busted.

It was a long, tough race, but exactly what I expected. I really did get tired of running in that forest and had a lot of problems later on when companions would have significantly cut down on time losses.

And, no, some people's expectations to the contrary--I was perfectly healthy for the day.
