Control pickup after the marathon.

This was the true battle to the end.

"Innaugural"? "First Annual"? [Valley Forge] DVOA Orienteering Marathon.

My first (but unfortuantely not last?) marathon.

I had never planned to do a marathon, but now, thanks to Wyatt and Angelica, I can say that I have. And, it was quite pleasant (not physically) but mentally/spiritually.

I had no outcome objectives, had no idea how long it would take. But I did have a plan, and I followed it almost perfectly.

My apparel selections were perfect as was food type and quantity. I did make one mistake by leaving my halfway jungle juice potion in the car, which added a detour, but I didn't have to stop at any refreshment stops otherwise, before 41. (I had run out of liquid at Sandy A's stop).

I maintained my steadyish pace throughout, which was luckily enough, as I definitely could not keep up with Ross for most of the course.

Also, forearm tight so I was easy on arm exercises.

A very nice run, but Wyatt was better.

Was quite annoyed by two control placements: one in a pile of sticks (not on the map), and another in a pit. I lost very little time on either; I'm annoyed on priniciple. This is one of my pet peeves.

Still, a pleasant day.
