Orienteering (BC Champs - Long) 1:30:00 [3]

Disaster!!!

Started well. Flowed through control 1 and 2 smoothly. Then somewhere on the way to 3 I lost my SI punch. Decided to go look for it and spent almost 40 minutes doing a grid search in thick bush. No luck. I decided to skip the far controls and made my own little course with the last 7. It always goes well when you are not racing! I stopped to forage for mushrooms. Also passed back over the spot where I lost my SI punch and spent another 20 minutes looking....just in case. Alas...

So, no idea how far I went or exactly how long I was out there. Time is approximate.

Fairly clean run to start off the weekend of orienteering. The first two controls were in a detailed wooded area which threw me at the beginning. Lots of hesitation through there. Then the only other issues were taking the worst possible route up the steep embankment, and not having fast enough legs.
