Orienteering race (long) 1:53:21 [3] **** 13.5 km (8:24 / km) +345m 7:27 / km
ahr:164 max:178

An excellent end to a fun weekend of O. Was a little intimidated to start the long since it was.....crazy long for me! Slugged it out and accomplished my goal of under 2h. No big mistakes, good route choices, and decent pace in spots. Clean up to 10 where I lost 4-5:00....lost contact and wandered a bit....located of the N ridge and found it. Some slight boobles after that but very good overall. Pushed hard at the end and focused on going error free which I did. Fastest in only 1/25 legs...ouch. Steve had a great run - not many people in CAN would of beat him on that course today...WOW!

2nd/4 - 28:59 behind Steven....gulp;)

Thanks for the great courses/organization Steve and Darius.

Orienteering race (middle) 45:01 [4] **** 4.9 km (9:11 / km) +150m 7:58 / km
ahr:173 max:187

MOC - middle. Solid race for me from start to finish. Not blistering fast (as expected) but I made good routes and limited my errors. Got lucky a bit on 2 which could fo gone bad if I lost contact there. Was in good contact the whole time, and was confident. Lost :30 on 3(leaked east), :30 on 10(hesitant when I got to the big hill, didn't read map well), :30 on #11, :45 on #12 (too cautious/tired), :30 on 15(getting caught in some green and a poor route) - so maybe 3:00 total lost - 5:00 if I would of ran harder. Fastest in 7/16 legs.

1st/4...6:52 ahead of Darius. 1st MOC championship since 1999!! Happy for sure.

Orienteering race (sprint) 18:11 [4] **** 2.4 km (7:35 / km) +85m 6:26 / km
ahr:180 max:190

MOC - sprint. Knew I would be hard pressed to out run Darius in this but was focused on running hard and going clean. Judging by my HR I did the first part! Was only :17 behind up to #6 then a lapse in judgement caused a minor error - went too far south, luckily recovered quyickly for only a :30 error. Lost 1:00 going to 10 - poor route around the hill and then went to the northern depression and had to loop back....dumb since I was very familair with that part of the map. Clean the rest of the way but still slower than where I should of been. Fastest in only 2/16 legs...ouch.

2nd/4 - 3:41 behind Darius who had a good run.

Ice Skating (hockey game) 10:00 [4]

Ice Skating (hockey game) 10:00 [2]

First game of the year for me. A weak defensive effort on both sides in a 9-6 win. Felt good to skate hard and play a real game.

Scary incident at the end of the game when one of our new layers got punched out in a "fight". The opposing player instigated a fight with :10 left which resulted in our guy getting knocked out, breaking his nose, and bleeding all over the ice. Never seen anything like that before in hockey and never want to again. Stupid stupid stupid.
