Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Before Trot.....freezin' my balls off....

Orienteering race (Long / Goat) 2:58:53 [3] **** 14.1 km (12:41 / km) +400m 11:07 / km
ahr:160 max:182

Very cold at start. Very slippery all over the place. Made the horrible decision to wear my adidas running shoes which have 0 and I mean 0 traction. After falling 5 times before #3 I knew it would be a long day. Made some stupid errors that likely cost me 40 min. or so. Couldn't get in a good pace because I was always wary of the ice and trying not to slip and break a leg/arm/face. Map reading and orienteering was alright for the most part, but my footwear was BRUTAL. Need to buy some shoes with tread/spikes. Literally was sliding off of spurs. Couldn't run on the side of hills at all.....had to alter route choice to avoid danger spots. By the end it was almost funny!! But I finished!!

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Before and after sprint at KU campus. Cold and slippery.

Orienteering race (sprint) 27:49 [4] **** 4.1 km (6:47 / km) +100m 6:03 / km
ahr:179 max:189

A good race through the campus at KU. My first urban type sprint. Felt good the whole way through. No big boo boo's at all. Very slippery in spots made it tough to get going, and you had to be very cautious. Real nice map. Happy my ahr was so high, but max could of been higher...need to push harder.
8th out of 26 who ran that course, 4th of 11 in class.
3:13 behind the Dman.

Orienteering (perm.course jog) 45:00 [3] *** 6.0 km (7:30 / km)

A little run on the Shawnee Mission Trim course map outside KC. Was getting dark so we didn't have a lot of time. Tough to see the signs when you got to each feature. If it was on the other side of the tree you couldn't see it.....kinda frustrating at times when you were in the right spot. Very runnable and neat terrain. Decent snow cover but not slippery.
