another great event by Sudden and Hammer. started out with a mistake at first control ( on the matrix - therefore alone)- maybe 5 min there, so it was a looooooong chase.. we passed several teams before control 2 ( between km 3 and 5 ).. went to the second map and got totally confused - have a hard time understanding where we were on the map ( actually was our fault since on the last minute info- we paid little attention- therefore the confusion.. rule 1: listen to the last minute instruction - even if you might think you can do without. )probably lost another 3-4 minute walking/stopping etc..so we got passed there and now we were on 3rd spot- at first aid station about 5 min behind. things went quite smooth with a good pace till km 15 where we caught "sweet as" team - then lost another 45 sec on route choice , plus a good minute since we overshot the control.. 3rd spot again, but again good pace, and some "foreigners" attitude and at km 19 we caught a glimpse of young team from Ottawa.. took us over 3k to pass them and then we moved again, but a 2 min mistake on map 4 ( near km 25 and we were caught again ).. from there on we had a good 4 k and we increased our lead , so the last 2 k was not too stressfull. another overall win for Foreigners this time with brand new team mates Igor and Nikolay. hard work out but great reward at the end..2000 cal- and a guestimate for climb
Note
RTH or Giant's Rib ( spring or fall )..since 2003 ( nov ) i competed 7 times in the fall( missed 2007- flu) and 7 times in the spring.including today I won 8 times overall (in 2004 we finished 2nd and 3rd and 2008 - 3rd and dq since one members dnf.. non-officially me and Laszlo finished 2nd that year). I was on Foreigners winning team 7 times- this spring i compete without foreigners- but still won..its really hard to stay competitive- but i am glad we managed a win today.. thanks GHO for another great event
