Running 5:00 [2]
shoes: La Sportiva Crosslite
Warmup for the race. Tried out my new orienteering shoes, a different brand than Inov8 which I had used for the last 3-4 years. Really good grip and seemed lightweight but durable so I was pretty happy with them

National Orienteering Week @ Blackfoot, classic distance (9 events in 9 days, I intend to go to 3 or 4). The map is basically a hybrid between SL Ranch (~5:50 min/km) and Elk Island (~15+ min/km). Managed to stay fairly clean navigationally, except for a 2 minute route choice error on 4 where I got stuck in a really gross green/deadfall area where I never did find the "trail". I could have gone around through the pasture and it would have only been 15-30 seconds worth of running longer. Wasn't quite able to get my running speed up to where I wanted it to be and felt like I was missing my top gear. Wasn't able to come close to Geir's winning time of 60:55, would have liked to have been within 5 minutes. At least I didn't do what the third place guy did, having a 10 minute error 3/4 of the way through the course after being virtually identical in the splits with me.
