Finally signed up for the Montreal Marathon today. Will have to train through my 12 day grad student trip to Newfoundland the next 2 weeks, thinking of starting a morning running group then (there are at least a couple other recreational runners going on the trip)
I dedicate this run to my dear friend Nicole Williamson, who was able to walk away from a plane crash this weekend that killed 12/15 people on board on impact with only broken bones, major bruising and severe psychological trauma. A real miracle in the midst of a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are for a speedy recovery for Nicole and peace to the victims and their families.
This whole thing really puts things in perspective, I would like to thank each and every one of my friends here on Attackpoint; orienteering is a fantastic sport but it is the amazing people that have made the last decade truly special for me.
First long run of the season, felt a bit weak around the 50 minute mark, but had a gel at the 60 and 90 minute marks so was able to get some speed into the last hour. Was able to push the tempo a bit, so really pleased with this run overall
run late night around Montreal, killed it, felt fresh the whole way. About to start a new training program, this time I mean it, really motivated to represent AB in COCs 2012, comfortable that I can schedule my time as a grad student around training
