Cycling 25:00 [3]

Strength/Flexibility 20:00 [3]

Running warm up/down 8:00 [2]

Running tempo (treadmill) 40:00 [5] 10.0 km (4:00 / km)

New PR for 10k, but barely, edging out my previous mark of 40:03 set in the spring. Nice to get in a solid tempo run at the Y. The crazy thing is that I was feeling great physically and felt that I could go even faster (39 minutes perhaps) so this is a big psychological victory. I feel I might be starting to break out of the physical/technical plateau that I have been mired in for the last 1-1.5 years. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come and I will continue to improve over the winter/spring. As long as I eat my wheaties and do my intervals I see no reason why I can't get a 10k time in the 37-38 minute range before JWOC.

Wednesday Dec 20, 2006 #

Other (tobogganing) 10:00 [1]

i guess this counts as some sort of hill training.

Tuesday Dec 19, 2006 #

Running 10:30 [3]

ran over to a friends house after work. ran out of time to train today.

Monday Dec 18, 2006 #

Running tempo 31:00 [4]

very nearly let this day slip away, considering I got up late, worked until 10, and did nothing in the 2 hours after I got home. beautiful midnight run, short 'n' sweet.

Running warm up/down 9:00 [2]

cool down

Cycling 55:00 [3]

1 am cycle in the mattcave. techically i should be logging all this training under Tuesday, but i prefer to log it under the day in which i get up

Sunday Dec 17, 2006 #

Note

overall a pretty slack week, but good to be recovered from the flu. will need to get a big week next week as it is my last chance before ski trip season (Dec.29-Jan.7)

Saturday Dec 16, 2006 #

Strength/Flexibility 9:00 [1]

Hockey/Skating 23:54 [2]

skating at victoria park oval with some friends. track length of about 400-500 meters.

Hockey/Skating intervals 21:40 [4]

did some intervals of two laps each with one lap rest. averaged about 2 minutes each (some of my times: 2:02, 2:03, 2:00, 1:57, 2:06, 2:06, 2:03)

Hockey/Skating 53 [5]

my friends (who are not skaters) wanted to see how fast I could skate one lap. breakaway type speed.

Friday Dec 15, 2006 #

Note

by the time friday finally rolled around this week i was beat

Thursday Dec 14, 2006 #

Hockey/Skating 45:00 [2]

shinny at outdoor rink. fun, but kept on shooting my puck over the boards and eventually lost it in deep snow. oilers win, stay in first in the division, yay.

Running 10:00 [1]

to and from rink. pretty slow, and carrying stick and skates.

Wednesday Dec 13, 2006 #

Note

didn't have the motivation today

Tuesday Dec 12, 2006 #

Running long 1:17:50 [4] 17.0 km (4:35 / km) +60m 4:30 / km

same run as Nov. 17, +4:10 faster. strong paced longish run. couldn't resist running through several untracked snow fields along the way.

Cycling warm up/down 18:10 [2]

cool down

Monday Dec 11, 2006 #

Running 48:30 [3]

nice midnight run in warm temperatures. felt killer on snopulsing sections

Sunday Dec 10, 2006 #

Cycling 1:02:00 [2]

good to be back from the flu. overall a terrible week: 2 days pre-flu exaustion, 2 days post-flu exaustion, 1 day full-blown flu and 2 days of mediocre/lazy (no running) workouts.

Friday Dec 8, 2006 #

Note

got up at 6:45 after only being able to eat solid food as recently as 8:30 the night before, worked for 9 hours. overall, very exausted, went to bed at 9pm on a Friday night.

Thursday Dec 7, 2006 #

Note
(sick)

got sucker punched by the flu today, totally didn't see it coming and then it knocked me out. tried to tough it out and go to work, but only lasted an hour before i had to go home. hadn't really been sick (other than too much alcohol/minor food poisoning) for 4-5 years. feeling a little better now, hopefully i can sleep it off and feel better tomorrow.

Wednesday Dec 6, 2006 #

Cycling 1:23:00 [3]

it was kind of late and I have to work early tomorrow so decided against running, figured i would just go until i got tired.

Tuesday Dec 5, 2006 #

Strength/Flexibility 10:00 [2]

Saturday Dec 2, 2006 #

run in the -20 degree temperatures. for some reason didn't feel as cold, possibly do to low wind. healthy portion of snopulsing.
