Quick word of warning: this post is a long ramblly course review. Don't feel like you need to read it all (or any of it really). For those of you that feel like you don't have anything better to do, I'm sorry in advance.
I started off badly, heading for two instead of one, and realizing at one point and luckily hitting the swamp between one and two, which verified my guess of where I had gone off to as opposed to where I had actually gone. It was kinda useful to have messed up one because then, on my way to two, I recognized the woods a bit. Two to three to four was all fine, no route choice or anything. Four to five was really intimidating. Flipping open the map at four and seeing the red line across a lot of it, I told myself, split it up: get to the trail and then think of a route from there. It was ok, my route wasn't the best but it kept me reasonably confident about where I was until the end in the green near five where I ended up wandering around for a bit (with two other people doing the same. The whole leg took me a while, I was going slowly trying to know exactly where I was at all times because I recognized that relocating would be difficult. For five to six I planned on going up to the top of the hill, which I kind of did, but then I cut down too early and ended up in the green but I eventually got to the trail, which was obvious, and it was right next to the two boulders so I was able to follow the line of rocks to the control. Six was where I met up with my mom and Angelica, and we all ended up making similar route choices to the rest of the controls, so most of the time we were running together. Six to seven was pretty easy--just go straight. Seven to eight you could see the rock faces that were before eight pretty quickly after leaving seven, which made it easy to stay on track. For nine I didn't even consider going through the swamp. Supposedly it wasn't that bad, but at the time (and still now), I didn't want to try it. When I got to the edge of the road closest to nine and then realized that there was a contour right next it which was a nice steep downhill to the road. Not fun but it was too late to go another way so I carefully slipped my way down it. Nine to ten was fine until I decided to go left around the fence. Dumb idea. I didn't really recognize that the fence went out as much as it did until it was too late to turn around and go back the other way.
Anyway, for any of you that have actually made it through this whole essay of a course review, I hope you enjoyed reading the outcome of a long drive home and thank you for reading it all.
