Orienteering 37:11 [3] **

This was the NAOC relay, a fun run around a biathlon trail network that had a lot of target animals in the bushes! It was my first relay experience, and I was feeling the mass start pressure (inexperienced me against three JWOC girls!?!?!?) and was very nervous going onto the start. My plan was to just stay really calm even if I had to go slow and not to take a lot of risks. First leg for the Canadian Junior women B team, I felt like I carried out my plan well, or maybe even a little too well! Since I did not take a lot of risks and am not a super strong runner, I tagged off in a solid third (of four) place after a slow but clean race. However, my team pulled a big surprise and after a 34 minute leg for Robin and 32 minute leg for Maya we came in second, beating out the Canadian A team! It was very exciting and I am really proud of how my team kept cool and pulled through. Nice job team!

Orienteering 33:03 [4] ***

This was a really smooth race for me and over all I was happy with it. It started with a two minute error on the first control, and after that I only made one or two small route choice errors. Although it was the NAOC middle course, there were not a lot of route choices and most controls I was able to run on trails. Once again, I was 2/3, but a different competitor took gold.

Orienteering 1:27:18 [3] **

Okay, I am finally updating my training log again! This was the NAOC long course and was definitely not my best race! However, I learned that I have to stay focused on my own race and not be distracted by other orienteerers. After totally blowing the first control, I had a fun though fairly slow race and was second of three.
