Anyone know why I would be missing the 'log' button next to my name under the results?

West Point weekend recap: I'm getting more consistent, but I still have work to do before I start seeing better results. I think I showed my strongest flashes as an orienteer this weekend and it's a shame I couldn't string them all together into one performance.

But I'm probably the happiest I've ever been with my orienteering abilities. Those stints of excellence felt incredibly good, and knowing that I'm capable is just amazing. I just know those slip ups are going to get smaller, and smaller, and smaller over time, and I can't wait to begin every step of grinding down the gap between where I am and where I know I can be.

And as always, happy to grow closer to a lot of orienteers. This was an incredibly fun weekend and I have a lot of other people to thank for that.

West Point long. I've been looking forward to this for a while now. I had an electric start but I think I pushed too hard and ran out of gas. Fell and busted my knee on the way to 7 which hampered my performance a good bit.

Poorly executed 7 (after falling) but not catastrophic. 11 was sad, I saw the swamp and all the other marshes were clearly crossable but this looked like a pond so I thought I was SE. Somehow missed the trail exiting 11 which was friggin killer, I was seriously stressed out after that cause I had a good race going. Then the fatigue mistakes started setting in as I got lazy. Blew past 13 and 14 (very frustrating) and somehow crossed the marsh to 16 without realizing it until it was too late.

After that, I just lost the drive after throwing away an amazing start and let fatigue take over. I'm going to start practicing orienteering more fatigued to circumvent this in the future.

West Point middle. Fun and technical. I was really close to greatness until I messed up a super easy 16 after getting distracted by orange in the woods. Only other big mistake (and boy was it costly) was when I told myself on the way to 19 'okay, just go down the reentrant 5 contours' and overshot by a lot.

West Point sprint. Yiiiiiiiiiikes, bad bad bad bad bad start. Ended up running alongside the cliff to the W for no reason. Bad route choice to 5, going up was so much better. I went down the rock tunnel going into 6 so I thought I should've seen it right at the bottom but couldn't find it on the first pass. Frustratingly bad, but not soul-crushing. Route choice to 8 was minor mistake, but others seem to think it was more than just minor.

Run warm up/down 10:47 intensity: (2:18 @2) + (7:55 @3) + (34 @4) 0.76 mi (14:11 / mi) +37m 12:21 / mi

Note

I think I’m way too in my head about this. Felt like Lyme disease symptoms but they’re so mild I shouldn’t worry about it unless I wake up feeling worse, which I haven’t been. I’ve just been stressed recently for a lot of reasons. A gentle run tomorrow (still very busy through tonight) should help.

(rest day)

No worse than yesterday, but I'm still a little concerned and quite tired. Hoping it'll all be clear by the weekend.
