Almost don't even want to put down race for this. Ran the March Madness Half Marathon course in Cary. Was aiming for about 6:30 pace. I hit that consistently in training and know I could hit that in a race.
For the actual solo race I was at 6:33 pace by mile 6, but then something just crashed inside of me. Just a bad day. I can't explain it. I picked it back up but at mile 8-9, something again just went wrong. I was completely overworked midway around mile 11, and couldn't hold a running form from 12.5 miles on.
It sucked because I KNOW I can do better than this, and I will do this exact same course next weekend and I will do better. Who knows what went wrong today. Just a bad day.
I am proud of the fact that despite this being the closest I've ever felt to quitting a race, I persisted and finished. I know I can handle a lot of pain from my body now, haha.
