Hampsfell Middle Distance Selection Race.

A different story today. Speed good through some of the controls, but I could make up all the lost time from accuracy. 3 big mistakes - one dropping 3 minutes, others ~1min and ~30s, but also quite scrappy in general. The main mistake was on the second-to-last control and I think I was just focusing on the finish and not concentrating on a plan to the next control.

Better HR for effort and lots to learn about with accuracy over speed.

ahr:128 max:145 (sick) shoes: Nike Zoom Streak LT4

Lancaster Uni Sprint Selection Race.

Another below-parr performance. Felt like I'd got a good flow on the nav through the controls and only noticed one real mistake while I was out there - 20 seconds or so lost.

I think the main problem must've been route choice. Didn't feel like there were any better routes at the time, but it would be good to go over my RouteGadget to see where I made up so much extra distance - up to 300m extra running than some. No push today with the running speed and an ultra-low, but understandable after a week of coughing and sneezing.

Easy on the Chester streets. Not feeling great to start - lungs burning and stopping to cough, but okay after the first few km. Nothing more tomorrow so that I can slide into the weekend a bit smoother.

ahr:149 max:176 rhr:46 slept:10.0 (sick) shoes: inov-8 Mudclaw G260 #1

A massive sleep and a new day - bad cough still but no shivering or aches today. Wanted to get out because it’s a big week of mocks so just kept it really easy and I enjoyed it. Stopped every 10 minutes or so to keep the HR down and just feeling a bit fatigued in general.

Good to hopefully get this illness out of the way now before the weekend - think it’s a chest infection but will make a real decision on health on Friday. If anything I don’t want to miss out on that Premier Inn breakfast on Sunday ;)

Note
rhr:45 slept:8.0 (sick) (rest day)

Today was not a great day.

Woke up fine and doing alright through the morning - just hit me after lunch with some shivering all afternoon, cold hands & face and the back & head both aching. Just came home and wanted to sleep so nothing getting done today.

Easy easy after what felt like quite a tough weekend actually. Not too bad with a couple of aches and a bit of a headache - nothing too deadly.
