Orienteering race 1:25:00 [5] 6.1 km (13:56 / km) +160m 12:19 / km
shoes: Icebug Spirit 4

Wonderful run at Dryer Rd Park with no trails shown on the map.

Some errors:
- small dustup on the first control. my toe stopped on a bit of wire fence during the climb and I took a chest-plant. A small bit of soreness the next day, so that perhaps deflated my effort a small amount. split analysis says a half minute, that seems reasonable.

- six isn't tagged with lost time, but I did lose 4 minutes closing in on the control, was one spur off. Looking back, I think the vegetation led me to think the next spur was the one in green. Happy to have corrected in a defined manner vs wandering around.

- got pushed by the hill on eight to stay down the hill. Again, happy to have corrected well.

- minor bubble on eleven, probably fatigue induced, I was looking for a spur, and not a re-entrant, so thought I was going up the hill with the three hill tops, and not into the valley beyond. I had actually seen the control there, but ruled it out as it wasn't on a spur... Probably a minute.

- first half of thirteen went very well, and I even had a good plan to go around the spur in the way at the end. Except I lost confidence in the plan, and ended up climbing that spur anyway and going around the top...

Lots of good controls. Hmmm - every control not mentioned as a bad one is actually pretty good.

It was a very long 1:25:00 considering my training state. Two water stops were much appreciated. But I must be doing ok on the training as I'm not feeling too bad the next day.

Did well without the trails, and made use of ones that happened to be along the path I was going.

Morning Run (pavement and trails) 42:16 [4] 4.2 mi (10:04 / mi)
shoes: Asics GT2000 Trail #2

6:03 .6 mi to 1000 acre swamp, 29.42 3 mi trails, 6:30 .6 mi home.

Another good day in the swamp. 1 likely FDF buzz, but no confirmed landings. I have an idea - frogs on a hat - the newest anti FDF technology...

Surprised at how much lower the water level was across the swamp in just one day.
