Ug, good news and bad news.
Good news is that the beginning of the course tracked well with what I think I should be able to do. 4th place after 7 controls, and reasonably happy with decisions. (but a lot of trail running)
Wheels fell off on the way to 9, and I didn't even know it until the end...
I attempted to cut the field on the way to 9, and that turned into 40m of pure fight. I felt relieved when I got out, and headed down the trail - and promptly turn down the other trail to 12... bah.
12 to 16 went well again (so actually I thought I was doing all well), and then at 16 I took off down the wrong large trail and lost 4 minutes there.
More good news - read the map well except for at 16 and that was because I didn't even bother to read it... So safety glasses w reading inset seems to work very well.
Need to put some training sessions in w 50-70 minute efforts.
