Back to Webster pack - re-running the sprint from last week. [Split rerun -r1, three total today]
Enjoyed this as much as the original and thought I had a good pace throughout. My times are good through the first three controls;-)
For 4 I chose to again go straight up the hill. A later path around to the right shows the trail is better for me - at least for this bit. Realized the green was rather green and my pace slow up the steeper hill. Trail gradient is less.
Funny bit - I had my sunglasses on today (was cloudy last week) and realized they provide fairly good eye protection, but wouldn't ya know it - a stick snaked in and poked me in the eye again!-) (don't think it was the same spot but still;-)
For 6 I took a better line and see the error of my ways. For 9 I think the map is a bit off - climbing is definitely not as good as going around. The vegetation takes you up higher and it looks like the hill is higher than the map may indicate. (plus you have to navigate a rather steep drop on the other side)

Next I walked the course at a brisk pace.
Saw some lines that appeared ok when I was taking them, but in reality could shave a few steps off. This time I crossed the stream to 3 and will say that it is a definite win. Bed was shallow, easy to cross and shorter. Other direction still crossed a gully.
Walked the trail to 4, and a slightly different path to 6 (seemed no better).
I don't often get back out on a course with time to analyze my racing decisions, and I enjoyed this cool down.

Re-ran the course again after a 15 minute rest (-r3). Probably at 90%, but still rather tired at the end.
Took the stream crossing at 3 and trail at 4 - and my time is identical though my pace was slower;-)
Interesting bit on 6 - I essentially ran the same path at the first rerun, but am 25 seconds faster - realize how much slower it is when you're thinking, looking and moving (even when you're re-doing it)!
For 7 I took the hill route but in re-looking I appear to have bailed out to the left just as far as the right trail goes. That's a whole lot of climbing up two sections to go straight - I'm glad I avoided it in the race;-)
Looks like I might not have climbed up the trail far enough the two previous times to get to 7 as my crossing to 8 was quite far to the right - the easier "non-wading" cross was quite close and where I remember it. (Didn't quite feel like worrying about slime on the bottom of the stream today...)
Overall I see that I was dead on per the first re-run through 11 and faded up the last climb to the finish.
This was a good lesson and workout day.
