Orienteering race (Harriman A-Meet) 1:06:15 [5] ***** 6.8 km (9:45 / km) +270m 8:08 / km
spiked:10/14c shoes: Integrator

I was really tired and out of it when i stepped up to the finish line, and i think that was part of the reason i made the huge mistake on control 5. I started off just running to one and finding it more by chance then by reading my map, then i looked at my leg to number two and saw that it was going to be following the trail and stream until i got to the hill where the contol was, so i was planning on reading ahead and planning my routes for at least the next 7 contols. Nope, diden't happen, i looked at the leg from 2 to 3, groaned to myself and spent the entire time just trying to figure out how to get to control 3. I lost focus just before reaching control 2, and had to search for a minute to find it, then on the way to three i knew i had to go slow and spike it, but i ended up going too low and in my flustered state i went back to the stream and had to attack the area again. this time going higher up. At this point i was beginning to get annoyed at my inability to focus and tried to clear my head on my way to control 4, which i managed to spike.
Control 5: i started humming the back street boys, and it all went down-hill from there. I made a 7min. mistake by running too far on a trail. However, after that i pounded to 6 and caught up with erin, and we hit the rest of the controls basically at the same time for the rest of the course, often choosing different routes (which we compared afterwards) and making almost no mistakes. I felt really tired after control 6, and felt myself slowing down and chugging into the finish. considering how i lost my focus, i was really happy with my time; it could have been alot worse if i haden't seen the boulder with "time square" written on it.

Felt good, but couldn't focus very well in the beginning of the course, however, as i got to the middle of the course things started clicking and i spiked the next few controls (until 13, where i ran right past the control and spent the next 3min trying to find it, and then heading out in the wrong direction to 14. i felt really tired when i finished
