Orienteering race (Red course) 1:42:11 [3] 6.73 mi (15:11 / mi) +899ft 13:29 / mi
slept:6.0 shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2014)

Red course at Camp Elim, consisting of four loops. It rained quite a bit while I was running, but it was warm so it wasn't miserable to be soaked.

I finished second (behind Troy), but there were only five people on Red (most people did Green).

Very fun.

My running group isn't meeting this week, but my assignment was: "4 mile run, hilly but comfortable". I decided to do four laps of the one-mile hill progression loop. Ran 4 miles, walked the rest.

Run / Hike race 1:01:48 [3] 6.2 mi (9:58 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:114.7lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2016)

"Let Freedom Run" 10K. This race started and finished at the rec center a quarter-mile from my house, on trails I'm very familiar with -- how could I not do it? :-)

I didn't have a specific goal or plan, but then I decided along the way that I'd like to finish under one hour. Unfortunately, the last mile was all uphill, including the steeper segments my running group uses for the hill progression and hill repeat workouts, and that part was tough.

I was amazed to hear my name called for 3rd place (out of 15 finishers) in the 40-49 group -- wow! I got a cool pint glass as a prize.

Looking at the results, the woman I passed on the last hill finished only two seconds behind me (I didn't realize she had gained on me after I passed her). And now I have an anxious-dread feeling of "what if I had blown it and lost out on 3rd place by two seconds?!" That would have sucked.

Run / Hike 24:45 [3] 1.33 mi (18:37 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2016)

Walked to & from the rec center, with an extra lap around the arboretum on the way back.

Strength / Stretching 1:00:00 [3]

Yoga @ the rec center. Thankfully it wasn't nearly as leg-intensive as it can sometimes be (since I'm doing a 10K tomorrow morning).

Run / Hike long 1:04:10 [3] 5.57 mi (11:31 / mi) +354ft 10:52 / mi
slept:8.0 weight:115.6lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2016)

My training plan specified a six-mile trail run for today and a five-mile easy run on Tuesday (we don't have group workouts this Tue / Thur).

Since I signed up for a 10K on the 4th, I decided to swap the workouts and do a five-mile trail run today.

I did an out-and-back on the Mayhofer-Singletree trail (with a short stretch on Cowdrey Draw), since it has a bit more up-down than Davidson Mesa (and I think that's what Erin meant when she specified a trail run for today). It was hot, but intermittent cloud cover helped.

I ran 5.1 and walked the rest. Splits were 11:31, 10:33, 10:44, 11:22, 10:08.
