Night-O at Buena Vista. Standing around in the freezing cold and wet snow while the start was delayed for an HOUR was slightly miserable, but I had a lot of fun (and warmed up a lot) once I finally got started.

My new-ish bike commuting light is my brightest light by far (compared to my cheap, wimpy Petzl), but it's not set up to be attached to a person's head like a normal headlamp. So, I tried something I saw Carolyn doing last year: I just wore my bike helmet with the light attached. ;-) I probably looked like a huge nerd, but it worked great.

Other than taking 26 minutes to find #3, I think I did pretty well (second place overall). My compass had a bubble in it the entire time, which was incredibly annoying (and might be partially to blame for my error at #3). Also, somehow I got a map that didn't have the last control marked (Sherry created a Green course on the fly, as a subset of the Red course), but I got credit for finishing anyway (rather than MSP), since I had gone right past it.

- Warm-up: 400m row, 200 jump-rope singles, dynamic stretching, medicine ball squat-cleans, lots of technique work for hang power clean.

- Hang power clean, working up to three-rep max: 55#, 65#, 75#, 85# (could only do one at a time...), 80#, 85#.

- Hang power clean every 30 seconds @ ~70% of three-rep max, for 10 minutes, resting in plank position between reps. I used 65#.

- Lots of shoulder-stretching stuff with resistance bands, to warm up.

- Bench press -- working up to 3-rep max (70#).

- For time: 12-9-6-3 reps of strict press (35#) / push-ups / ring dips. I did the push-ups on my knees and used a band on the ring dips. 8:58.

- Jumprope, jumping jacks, dynamic stretching, and jumping drills x 40 to warm up.

- Kips x 10, Burgener warm-up and squat-snatch technique work with PVC.

- For time -- two rounds: run 800 m / 55# squat-snatch x 37 / kipping pull-ups x 37. I used 40# for the squat-snatch and did a combination of 20 kipping pull-ups and 17 jumping pull-ups each round. 36:05.
