Walked/jogged on the model map in the rain

Orienteering race (Sprint) 19:25 [5] *** 2.5 km (7:46 / km) +80m 6:42 / km
21c shoes: New Balance 472

JWOC sprint. Mezzano. Crazy race! The fastest 19 minutes of my life. Found it impossible to read ahead so was very hesitant on the first long leg. Lost time when I saw the mens control which I thought was mine at #4. Almost ran passed 16 as I could already see #17. Other than that a few other hesitations but nothing major. Last 4 controls where flat out running. Happy with my result. Steph had a good run.

Event: JWOC 2009

Orienteering (Long Model) 36:15 [1] 1.8 km (20:08 / km)
shoes: New Balance 472

Long Model event. San Martino 1: 10 000.
Eeek. Not looking forward to the long. Not enjoying the scale. Battlimg to interpret stuff once I'm in the circle. Took it easy and tried to figure stuff out. Hard to concentrate with everyone wizzing passed.

Sprint tomorrow should be fun.

Bought O'shoes. YAY!!!

Orienteering (Long training) 1:45:01 [3] 4.7 km (22:21 / km) +235m 17:53 / km
shoes: New Balance 472

Passo Rolle 1:15 000.
First training on a 1:15 000 map. It felt really weird but I got the feel of it towards the end. Battled to interpret detail in the circle. Didn't notice the climb much. Nice area. Long model tomorrow will hopfully give me a bit more confidence

Orienteering (Relay training) 1:23:59 [3] 4.4 km (19:05 / km) +250m 14:52 / km
shoes: New Balance 472

Val Canali. 1:10 000. Great area. Enjoyed the course. Took it relatively easy and my navigation was decent. Enjoyed the eastern side which was very detailed. Didn't notice the climb on the course much. The climb to the start was a killer though. The big river was fun to try and cross. I chickened out and ran up to the bridge. Lots of other teams in the forest this morning mostly cruising past at insane speeds.

Orienteering (Sprint) 21:50 [4] 2.8 km (7:48 / km) +50m 7:10 / km
shoes: New Balance 472

Fiera di Primiero. 1:4 000
Felt alot more comfortable. Got a good flow going and didn't make any misakes. Also reading ahead well and reading the control description more. If I can navigate like this in the sprint I'll be really happy. Maybe I could pick up the pace a bit.

Orienteering (Downhill rocky) 42:19 [2] 1.0 km (42:19 / km)
shoes: New Balance 472

Caltena. 1:2500. Did a downhill course with 10 controls in a very rocky, detailed area. Not at all runnable and easy to land on your face. Took it slow. Great training. Enjoyed the intense navigation.

Orienteering (Long training) 1:51:14 [3] 5.0 km (22:15 / km) +250m 17:48 / km
shoes: New Balance 472

Calaita. 1:10 000
Tough training. The long legs were really difficult. I battled to figure out the map in places. Cut out 4 controls to make it shorter. First really hard session. Glad we are having a rest this afternoon

Orienteering (Sprint) 22:59 [5] 2.5 km (9:12 / km)
shoes: New Balance 472

Siror. 1:5 000. Legs felt heavy while warming up but loosened up nicely. Felt slow yet rushed. So much to think about. One big mistake but otherwise okay.

Orienteering (Middle Training) 1:26:44 [3] 3.7 km (23:26 / km) +240m 17:42 / km
shoes: New Balance 472

Passo Creda. 1:10 000
Legs are sore. Map was a bit out of date and not the nicest area. I felt out of touch a lot but managed to keep the flow going. No flags out which made it more tricky.
