Orienteering race (QLD Sprint Champs) 18:30 [5] 3.3 km (5:36 / km)

Another quality fuckup at a sprint. Had 30sec lead at 9 although i'd already lost 20+ seconds looking for 5. Assumed the control was on the undercover part of the building which was up a storey level but it was on a fence connected to the building at the bottom. 1.30min lost here, race over. ITB was really tight afterwards, first time since well before easter its been that bad.


Also Dad managed to forget that my expensive road bike was still attached to the top of the car as he parked it at home. Luckily there is a grapefruit tree that caught the bike and jogged his memory just before he went under the carport.

Orienteering race (NOL Long) 2:20:13 [3] 17.2 km (8:09 / km) +550m 7:02 / km

NOL Long. Managed to stuff the first one, pulled up short and wasnt reading the map well enough. Caught by Bryan stuck with him next few, got away briefly between 4 - 6, caught me again, then stuffed about on the long leg. Lost another 2mins here. Last half of the course was good, but everyone else seemed to be running it well so didnt help much. Gutted i didnt crack 2hrs.

NOL Sprint in Canberra. Bit scrappy on 2nd leg then Simon caught 1min on me. Stuck with him till the bush section then KO'd myself in the first bit of bush and got dropped. Finished at usual crap sprint standard.

From St Lucia to Race Elements. Got lost so ended up being late.

Race Elements. Was 20mins late so smashed everything out in about 30-40mins.

Ride back to uni from Race elements. Know which way to go now. Thought it was gonna be more painful than it was. Fark got intervals now.

Intervals at UQ with Anna. 10X 500m with jog back recovery(~3mins). Had extra 3min standing recovery after 6th one to make sure I didnt crack. Times: 1.35, 1.37, 1.37, 1.37, 1.38, 1.35, 1.31, 1.34, 1.36, 1.34

Run race (Ipswich One Mile Gift) 5:00 [3] 1.48 km (3:23 / km)

1mile handicap race at the Ipswich racecourse in between horse races. Didnt have a handicap cause i hadn;t received the forms earlier in the week so i gave them a rough 1km time to use. Think they buggared it up though cause they started me with all the Queensland rep runners at the back. No where near strong enough to keep with them and got my arse kicked, the main group started about 100-200m in front of me as well which made catching up almost impossible. Not sure of time think it was round 5mins, winner did 4.27 and started 20m behind me.

They had betting on the race as well, with my handicap I would have had about 5 to 1 odds. Dad had 41 to 1 on him, lol.

I think this week has been a bit of a write off. Hopefully be back into it next week.

In other news, the QLD sprint champs are meant to be at UQ st lucia this year cause they got cancelled at toowoomba in march. I just found a brand new map at Kelvin Grove QUT/ school which looks pretty awesome. John S made it in March before he left. Apparently its being used for a CATI in a few weeks. Trying to get Dad to change the sprint champs to kelvin grove now and ditch the CATI.
