Note

Off to woodford folk festival tomorrow, so the absence of logged training for the next week is due to no internet access and not laziness. Physio confirmed ITB friction in my right knee. ITB, glutes and hammies were tight so have to concentrate on stretching them/ massaging etc. Should be fine for NZ.

Monday Dec 22, 2008 #

shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer 13

Squeezed a jog round the park before work in. Knee didnt feel as tight today. Got physio booked for wednesday.

Run warm up/down (w/u only) 15:00 [3]

Run intervals 15:09 [3] 4.0 km (3:47 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer 13

4X 1km intervals up at the grass track. Was a bit cooler today at 31ºC with a light breeze. Thought i was pacing it well but times blew out badly. Didnt feel like i was struggling at all though. Need to do more of these endurance ints as thats where my current fitness is lacking.

Saturday Dec 13, 2008 #

Run 41:26 [3] 8.8 km (4:42 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer 13

Run from Boombana to Jolly's lookout. Was lucky i even made it out of bed as i've had 8hrs sleep in the last 48hrs. The pack started off really casual so after 1km I jumped to the front and got the pace going. Short rest at the lookout then ran back bout 2mins quicker on the return leg.

Friday Dec 12, 2008 #

Run long 2:18:00 [3] 23.4 km (5:54 / km) +417m 5:25 / km
shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer 13

Usual Long run loop with Macca from slaughter falls. Got to sample the damage to the forest caused by the "Gapocalypse". Had to turn back on the Jones rd trail as it was still covered with fallen trees. Legs were still rooted from Wednesday but sort of loosened up after 40mins. Last hour was faster than the first 1.30hr. Managed to destroy the 4km run from Gap Ck (quail trail) to the top of highwood rd. http://www.mapmyrun.com/route/au/brisbane/70124594...

Wednesday Dec 10, 2008 #

Run intervals 30:00 [3] 3.6 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer 13

Intervals at the Park. 3X100m, 2X200m, 1X300m, 2X200m,1X100 with equal jog recovery. Then 4X100m with 100 jog recovery. Easier session this week.

Run warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Run 32:07 [3] 7.4 km (4:20 / km)
shoes: Brooks Racer ST 3

Last Street O for the year. Hamstrings were tight as from this mornings session. Started out with a big pack at the start which fell behind pretty quickly. Went hard through the hilly part of the course then just tried to hold it together for the rest of it. Almost overshot the last control but saw it just as Macca was coming in as well. Unfortunately for him he missed it too and I punched first and got a head start in the sprint. Won by less then a second. Macca proved his commitment in the race by running flat out into the table in his attempt to win. Idiot.

Tuesday Dec 9, 2008 #

Weights 1:00:00 [3]

Run 17:50 [3] 4.1 km (4:21 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer 13

Moutain Biking 6:35:00 [3] 123.0 km (3:13 / km)
shoes: Giant XTC 2

Urban Polaris. Started out to the south from Stromlo and hit up a couple of big climbs. Route ended up being kinda bad cause 2 dummy controls had been planted one after the other. Spent ages looking for one before realising there was no control. Finished somewhere in the top 100 out of 400 teams, and top 50 in the Mens Class. Time and distance includes the 30km round trip from Kingston to Stromlo and back.

Saturday Dec 6, 2008 #

Moutain Biking 1:00:00 [3]

Not sure of time. Ride with the oldman again from kingston out towards Stromlo to see where we have to go tomorrow morning. Continued on to the city and picked up some gear from the bike shop then back home again.

Run (Street O) 33:47 [3] 7.6 km (4:27 / km)
shoes: Brooks Racer ST 3

Street O at Runcorn East. Killer electrical storm was on while running. Legs were stiff from this mornings session but got kicking after 3km. Started to struggle a bit in the last 2km but held it together and finally won a race this year. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2423711

Tuesday Dec 2, 2008 #

2X 4km round queens and limestone park. Was 35ºC outside when i was running. Knocked the first one off easily in 17.18, then had 10min recovery/ drinking heaps of water. 2nd rep was shithouse though. Did 19.05, legs felt like they did in the run part of the triathlon on sunday. Had no power or speed. Gonna have to start doing 1km intervals again.

Lol
Please help those affected by storms in Ipswich!

Hurricane Shazza hit Ipswich in the early hours of 17th November 2008.
Victims were seen wandering around aimlessly, muttering 'Faaackinell'.

The hurricane devastated the area causing approximately $30 worth of
damage. Three areas of historic burnt out cars were disturbed. Many locals
were woken well before their Centrelink cheques arrived.

The Ipswich Times reported that hundreds of residents were confused and
bewildered and were still trying to come to terms with the fact that
something interesting had happened in Ipswich.

One resident - Tracy Maree Sharon Britney Madonna Smith, a 15-year-old
mother of 3 said 'It was such a shock, my little Chardonnay-Mercedes came
running into my bedroom crying. My youngest two Joachim and River slept
through it all.'

Apparently, looting, muggings and car crime were unaffected and carried on
as normal. The Australian Red Cross has so far managed to ship 4,000 crates
of Bacardi-Breezers to the area to help the stricken locals. Rescue
workers are still searching through the rubble and have found large
quantities of personal belongings, including Health Care Cards, Jewellery
from Kmart, and Bone China from Big W.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

This appeal is to raise money for food and clothing parcels for those
unfortunate enough to be caught up in this disaster. Clothing is most
sought after - items most needed include: flannelette shirts, tight blue
jeans or spandex, singlets (blue & white) white sport socks, Ugg boots and
any other items usually sold in Priceline or The Reject Shop. Food parcels
may be harder to come by, but are needed all the same.

Required foodstuffs urgently needed include: Microwave meals, Baked beans,
Ice cream, Chips, Fizzy drinks.

Donations of $15.00 will be taken to buy a packet of winny blue 25s and a
lighter to calm the nerves of those affected.

**Breaking news**

Ipswich Uniting Church has cancelled their local 'Nativity Display' due to
their inability to find three wise men or a virgin.

(rest day)

Running gear is still in the process of being washed from yesterdays mudbath. Hit up some free weights instead, not worth logging though.
