Orienteering 31:31 [3] 5.2 km (6:04 / km)
shoes: Puma Esito III

Mid week event at Parkinson reserve. Never run here before. Terrain was pretty scrappy with thick trees and fallen logs. and some of the mapping was pretty crap too. Probably lost bout 2mins just screwing round in the control circle but other than that was a pretty clean run. Dont know the distance cause i left my map back there but guessing it was round 4km.

Orienteering race (Woodlands) 1:08:27 [4] *** 9.1 km (7:31 / km) +175m 6:52 / km
spiked:15/18c shoes: Puma Esito III

Event at Gatton. Terrain was pretty fast except for the patches of lantana. Run was mostly clean until the end where i screwed the last two. lost probably close to 5mins. Area was a bit vague and hesitated a bit on 17 and didnt check compass going to 18.

How cool is this. Turns out V.B. are filming a new ad at the house across the road next week. Think the guy is getting about $1500 for letting them film there and i;m guessing there'll be a years supply of beer too. Think i might try and see if i can be an extra or sumthing.

Mid week Event at JC Slaughter Falls. Smashed this run out pretty well. Legs were tight from yesterday but was still able to run fast for my current level of fitness. Felt strong up the hills, but was being a bit slack in the northern section of the course. Finished 4th about 40secs off the pace.

Run round limestone and queens park. Took 35secs off last weeks time. Was a lot smoother running than last week and felt stronger up the hills. Need to work on speed on chermside road cause my km/rate seems to be slow along there. Legs felt fine.

Orienteering race (JWOC Trials (Long)) 1:38:14 [5] *** 8.59 km (11:26 / km) +325m 9:37 / km

JWOC Trials long. 13th. This was meant to be the race where i beat all the odds after having the worst start to a season through injury and end up making the team. Had Fagg 2min in front who i knew i was gonna catch and be followed by so that shitted me. Caught him before halfway on the first leg(nothing suss there...) Hit the first 4 controls smoothly and was running well. Then on the most technical leg of the whole run i let myself be dragged right and passed the control on the wrong side of the rock and thought it was actually the bare rock cliff before. Lost 5mins easily here. Next lot of controls were fine then screwed up 12 badly( dont know how, lost 6mins) and got caught by a train. Kept up with the train and took a minute out of them on the final leg. So missed the team which sucks but i got next year.

JWOC Trials middle distance. 6th place(technically 5th if u take into account that fagg followed). Didnt think i;d place so well due to the speed of the terrain and my current lack of fitness. But seemed to hit most controls smoothly and was running pretty strongly which amazed me. Started to die in the last loop but pulled it home. I think i can say now that my injuries is healed.

Cruisey ride on the windtrainer. Took about 10mins to get into it than the last 15mins were pretty solid. Leg is heaps better now.

Saw the physio today. Turns out its only a muscle/nerve thingy in my glute that is playing up so all i need to do is stretch it which is good. Was at schools champs all day watching simee and krystal carve up.

Was meant to be a decent session but leg muscles were playing up again so pulled out. did 4X 400m with 80 sec recovery. Times for 400m were 83, 82, 85, 86

Started off alright. Wasted a bit of time on 3 and got caught by bryan. Managed to run offline to 4 but corrected myself and spiked it. Caught bryan again at 5 but got caught by the Kieran Train. Stayed with them till 6 then ran the track to 7 with Tristan. Got dropped by tristan. Then all my energy was gone by 8. Guess i should have expected this but still really cut.

WOC Sprint. Started out competitively looking at the splits but fucked 4 like most people. Tristan caught me at 7, stuck with him till 9 then he burnt me across the carpark and i was screwed after that and finished really slowly.

Mission 1. Fucked the first control, then majorly screwed the 2nd, third wasnt much better. Didnt get into the map till about 8. Was running alright by that stage then absolutely screwed 11 cause i couldnt see the knoll i was looking for, lost about 5min or sumthing. Ran above 12 then started spiking everything after 14. Reckon i could have been competive in this race had i navigated right. not happy.

Did the short course at the thursday event. Navigation was pretty easy except for looking for those plate controls we use for street o which were hidden under plants and stuff. Legs bit tight from yesterday but werent feeling too bad. Got the physio to check them out. Mainly need to do more stretching.

Finally my legs have begun to work again. Was able to run faster today which was sweet as. Did the cross country course but cut it short just before the last hill. Cut it short mainly to not over do it before this weekend.
