The long run I missed on Saturday morning. Anzac Park, Frosties, Highwood rd, quail trail, up Jacksonia, down Kokoda, up honeyeater, back down the road from the lookout to anzac park. Wanted to run down Slaughter falls but ran out of daylight so had to use the main road.

Hearts been feeling crap again since last week, saw doc again today, upping the drug dosage which will hopefully sought it out, can still run though. Hopefully seeing a cardiologist who specializes in sports med soon to get another opinion

Got up before sunrise to use the running track so I wouldn't have to pay the track fee. Got down there and a massive running group was already on it so ended up using the ring road any way. First speed session in a while. 8x 400m, started first 4 with ~200m jog recovery but wasn't really working so just cut it back to same recovery. Just going for 75secs on the dirt track, most between 75-78.

Felt crap this morning so skipped the long run crew. Went out in the evening instead, plan was to head up to Coot-tha via frosties, but left pretty late and by the time I got to the bottom of the climb it was pretty dark. Bailed on that idea and cruised home via swan rd and lap of the uni.

Night ints at Anzac Park with Macca. 8x 3min, 1min off. Felt good for first 6, then hit a solid wall end of the 7th. Lucky the last rep was mostly flat. Hard to resist the temptation to kick toads whilst running.

Orienteering race 1:43:51 [3] 18.4 km (5:39 / km)

Hagaby at Collins Ck. Lost a bit on the first control, too far right with Bruce and Ecmo. Saw Shep, Lachlan and Crosato ahead of me into the 4th, chased them down then courses split again. Came through run through just behind Shep and agpatch. Heard we were in the 2nd pack, hoped I had the longer split first then. 2nd loop pretty clean, kept seeing people appearing in front of me who I thought I had past due to the splitting. 3rd loop was good, saw Shep again towards the end but then stuffed the 9th one on that loop. Parallel error up a creek which I was trying to avoid doing. Dropped 3mins on Shep here according to splits. Heard I was in 2nd coming through spectator, hit the last loop alright except for ~1min on the 4th last. Pretty happy with this run, haven't run as hard for over 100mins before. Think I had a slight advantage knowing how to run through lantana well, but helped too that I hit the bingo controls without too much time loss. Hopefully can replicate this at WOC trials in a months time

Kelvin Grove sprint. Tough first leg, but got out of the buildings ok and hit it cleanly. Next few were good just lacking bit of control flow. Lost time on 7 as I was at the top of the stairs looking down and couldn't see it. Rest was fine just a bit too slow through the pivot loop cause I had heaps of energy left at the end.

UQ Chasing Start Sprint. Goal for this race was to catch the three people in front of me. Easy enough to get Ian and Mark as there was only a few seconds in it. Hit the first few cleanly, few micro route choice issues through 4, 5 and 7. Seemed to be letting Mark influence my direction although i knew the fastest routes. Was already hurting by 12 and lost almost 20secs on routechoice to 13 after seeing Mark swear and turn around and go the other direction (Partly my fault not reading the map either). Was dead by the time the butterfly loop was over, had caught up to Bruce but nothing left in the tank after this morning so couldnt keep with him or mark.

Day 3. Started off crap, lost 1.30min on first control, just didn't see it on the cliff, looped a bit before running back to the cliff and finding it. Hit he next 6 really well. Started to struggle up the hill to 7, then faded on the long leg to 8. Muzza ran through me here but hung on until 9. Walked a lot of the leg up to 10, not strong enough to get through the fallen timber which isn't usually an issue. Was in 4th at 9 but lost ~1.40 up to 10. Managed to get back in the zone from 10 till home.

Long Distance. First mistake was leaving my gels in Brisbane, managed to get one at the race though. Started off well spiking first 4, slight miss on 5, then brain snap on 8. Scale caught me out a bit and lost about 4mins on a pretty straightforward leg. Either way was starting to fade on the hills. Took the track option with Mikko and Mark on 9, left Mark in the forest, ended up walking/ slow jogging most of the top section (9,10,11,12). Really unmotivated by here but toughed it out. Simon ran through at 13, got a slight tow here but hamstrings started cramping. Real struggle to run from there. Glad to have finished but way too far behind for a long distance.

Middle distance. Got distracted by another control right at the end of the first leg, couldn't see where it was on the map, knew I was too far to the left and headed right and found the first. Lost bout ~1.20min here. Hit the rest pretty solidly. Think the navigation was reasonably easy from there, too many attackpoints/ handrails, just stuffing round getting through the rocks/ fallen timber. Only lost time through micro route choice stuff. Really struggled on the hills after 6. In the hurt box by the end, fitness main thing that let me down today.

Easter Prologue. Started off alright just felt like I was lacking speed. Came through spectator in a solid time similar to Parto. Started running from 14 to 16, stopped halfway when I realised something was wrong and saw 15 on the map. Took a bit of time to figure out what was happening but was only just right of the control. Lost about 50secs according to splits. Then died on the long leg up to 17. Lost rest of time just on speed but expected that.
