Orienteering race (ACT Champs) 1:28:18 [4] *** 10.7 km (8:15 / km) +315m 7:12 / km
spiked:21/24c shoes: Puma Esito III

ACT Champs. Was feeling suprisingly good and was nailing most of the controls. Caught simon at 3 and ran together from there. Dropped him on a hill somehow but he caught up again a couple controls later. Stuffed 18 up trying to avoid the green(1min) then stuffed 19 up (another 2mins). Then ran down wrong gully to 21. Solid effort though and finished strong enough. Was winning from number 3 to 17.

Moutain Biking 2:20:00 [3]
shoes: Giant XTC 2

Was meant to meet Matt at Gap ck at 8 but didnt get the car till 7.20 so was bout 40mins late. Met up with bridgey on the way up to the top of lantana. Then went back to the car park and found kieran. Solid session of riding no major stacks only couple of minor ones with logs going up hill. Bridget bailed then me matt and kieran did a handicap race down lantana. Kieran first, then me 20 secs later then matt another 30secs behind. Caught up to kieran and saw him go arse up into a creek when he was being extremely hardcore. Managed to keep Matt behind me till the bottom but he beat me in the sprint finish. Awesome ride.

Easy run to test out how the glute is going. Felt alright bit tight now but think it should be right for next week. Hammies were tight from the strenghtening exercises i been doing but they were feeling better as well.

Moutain Biking 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Giant XTC 2

So much for resting up. Dad wanted to check out some conservation reserve thing near ripley rifle range so took the mountain bikes out there for a spin. Found a track where we think the reserve is and rode on that for a while. Spent the first part pushing the bike cause the first hill was farkin steep as. Track eventually changed to some alright single trail. Had to wait for dad heaps cause hes new to mountain biking. Think i've convinced him to get into mountain biking more. Getting the hang of bunny hopping logs now. Right glute still sore.

Saturday Sep 22, 2007 #

Note
(rest day)

Glute is still playing up so gonna have a couple of days off.

Moutain Biking hills 25:00 [3]
shoes: Giant XTC 2

Forgot to stretch last night so woke up with a sore right glute. By the time 3.20pm came round i had decided to bail on my idea of a quick 8km run before work. Ended up doing some hill sprints round denmark hill which got the legs really working. Had a crack at going up ellenborough st which is probably the steepest hill in ipswich and is farking hard to run up. Got most of the way up but couldnt get into my small chain ring for some reason so had to walk the rest.

Orienteering (Mid week event) 27:35 [3] 3.8 km (7:16 / km) +160m 6:00 / km
shoes: Puma Esito III

Mid week event at Tyamolum. Had to use two copies of the map with the continuation of the course on the 2nd. Lots of dog legs and steep hills. Got thrown by the scale in places and the poor mapping but nothing too bad. Heat got me about 500m to go and was struggling up the steep hill out of 13. Got done by mark by bout a minute.

Weights 30:00 [3]

Can bench 50kg(free weights) now

Run hills 10:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel-1110

Thought this was gonna take longer but must have imagined the size of the hill wrong. Did 10X hill sprints which were about 15-20 secs each with jog recovery so no stopping. Did it on the big grass hill next to the last killer hill on the limestone park x-country course. Its designed as an ampitheatre thing so it starts off steep then flattens then gets steep again. Was pretty easy session

Run warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Gel-1110

Did the first half of the x-country course in reverse as a warm down. Didnt do a warm up cause i was back from uni late and it was getting dark so went straight to the hill. And some guy got stabbed to death the other night etc. Usual Ipswich thing.

Orienteering race 1:23:10 [3] *** 9.6 km (8:40 / km) +230m 7:44 / km
spiked:14/18c shoes: Puma Esito III

Last OY for the year at Buhot Ck. Twas farkin 28degrees out there which made it pretty crap. I think my running form is going into a slump, had problems with the hammies again after bout 4km again then started walking massive chunks at the end. Was only 6mins down on Mark which is suprising cause i reckon i lost more than 10mins walking at the end.

Run 17:54 [3] 4.13 km (4:20 / km) +70m 4:00 / km
shoes: Asics Gel-1110

Hit out the 4km loop round limestone/queens park before work. Legs were tight and never got moving well. Right Glute is sore most likely from the hills on wednesday and hammies were tight again. Tried to push it home to beat 18mins but was struggling a shitload up the hill on Quarry st. Need to run more me thinks.

Run 47:38 [3] 7.18 km (6:38 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-1110

Went out to Harding's Paddock and tried to run up to the lookout and back before dark. Havent been up there before but its a really nice run. Had to cut it short cause it was going dark pretty quickly and i didnt wanna get lost out there. There was a shitload of climb at the start and to keep waiting at the top of the hills for molly. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1311125

Orienteering 1:00:36 [3] *** 7.65 km (7:55 / km) +275m 6:43 / km
spiked:16/17c shoes: Puma Esito III

Ran red 1 at the event i was organising today. Wasnt too hard for me cause i had been to all the controls sites except for 1. Still managed to stuff up/ run really wide on one leg. Wasnt feeling to bad at the start except for a bit of coughing, then started to feel buggared by 7 then legs(mainly hammies) were giving me grief like they did at state champs. Engine slowly died and was walking by the last couple. Feeling so unfit. Was 4mins ahead of Mark unofficially.

Orienteering (Control collecting) 40:00 [3]
shoes: Puma Esito III

Collected controls after the event. Ran most of it. Got shot at by bogan laser skirmish kids. And spent a lot of time waiting for dad to get his controls.

Saturday Sep 8, 2007 #

Note

Dont know whether it was worth logging but i'll note it down anyway. Was putting out controls for tomorrows event. Ran a bit at the start but was feeling pretty crap. After i went out again to put out water i ran back to the assembly area and did some hill reps on the way. Coughed up a lung too which was cool.

Mountain Bike Orienteering race (QLD Long Champs) 2:32:35 [4] *** 25.0 km (6:06 / km) +230m 5:50 / km
spiked:18/19c shoes: Giant XTC 2

Didnt think it was possible but fucked the first one again. Put my map on the map board but didnt even thing about orientating it. Took off for a km in the wrong direction before i decided to whip the compass as nothing was fitting. Had to ride straight past the start again which was worse. Got into a good rhythm after that and was riding really well. But on the way up the hill to 12 my chain broke and i spent ages there trying to fix it. dont know how long or why it took me that long but my race was definitely over by then if not by the first one. Cruised through the last couple of controls cause couldnt be fucked going hard out. Good weekend i had.

Note

When I was hanging at the finish with all the other cool people like kezza, ian and matt you could here this car speeding towards us. Next thing theres a big screech of tyres and a loud crash and all this dust in the air just over the crest of the hill. Everyone just runs in that direction and we find some tool who was out drifting has rolled his ute. Somehow he escaped unscathed but his ute was farked. Pretty funny

Mountain Bike Orienteering race (QLD Sprint Champs) 48:00 [3] *** 6.8 km (7:04 / km) +350m 5:37 / km
spiked:9/10c shoes: Giant XTC 2

Was at the powderfinger silverchair concert last night which was frickin awesome so was a bit tired. Had a nice fuck up on the first one where i was cycling to fast for my brain and went off the map a number of times. took 14mins for a 2min control so that was the race over considering kezza was the only other one racing. Finally remembered how to navigate but on the way to 3 another cyclist collided with me but he survived and i ate shit. Was alright except for some flashbacks and kinda didnt really go hard after that. Pretty bad for my first mtbo and spent 2 hours cleaning the important parts of my bike that were covered in mud.
