Walking 4:26:00 [2] 7.8 mi (34:06 / mi)
Hung ribbons at FDR for GAOC meet in Nov. Beautiful day for walking in the woods, sunny, clear, cool, low-mid 60s. Covered lots of ground to get to the Blue controls at the far end of the map.
Saw several campsites in use way off in areas I never knew or expected were used for camping. In retrospect, they are all only ~100m from a big, well known trail. And only about 1-2 km from the trail head on the road along the top of the ridge.
Also saw a dead racoon. Still had his eyes so I guess he hasn't been dead for very long. There were lots of flies buzzing around though. Not a very nice looking pelt, but I wasn't interested in trying to skin him anyway.
Looked like there was a 50km trail run finishing in the parking lot. Don't know where they started but I saw a couple runners on the Pine Mountain Trail. I'm guessing they started near Warm Springs since the trail from there to FDR is about a marathon distance (26 mi).
