Orienteering race 1:31:30 [4] *** 8.9 km (10:17 / km) +150m 9:29 / km
spiked:15/20c shoes: PI Synchro Seek Trail

NAOC - Long - Klondike S.F. Another day of excellent orienteering - some really fun terrain and another challenging course.

Overall, I think this was the my best run of the weekend. Maybe not navigationally, but physically. After a lot of running, both over the entire weekend and on this course, I am used to dealing with cramps and total exhaustion toward the end. I paid particular attention to what I ate/drank leading up to Sunday and it kept me in the game. I have not seen any types of results yet so I am not quite sure how I placed.

More comments to follow...

Orienteering race 57:00 [4] *** 5.3 km (10:45 / km) +123m 9:38 / km
spiked:10/16c shoes: PI Synchro Seek Trail

NAOC - Middle - Salmon River Fish Hatchery. As others have noted the maps/terrain were excellent (surprisingly Mendonesque) and the courses did a good job of making you forget the area is really quite small. I ran this course quite conservatively considering the experience I have with this type of terrain. So no big booms, but no truly impressive legs. I overshot/pulled up early on #3, #4, and #13 and drifted way too close to the road from #7 to #8. (I apparently had trouble leaving #8 according to the GPS). Anyway, I think I am least proud of my finish. I totally missed the trail that was about 75m from #15 that would lead everyone in to the finish. Instead I took a direct line through the white then crossed the stream and went to the south side of the pond. Not a lot of time lost - but I was quite embarrassed to have to run against the grain for a short portion of the finish chute.

Great runs were posted by Pavel and Sergei and I think I wound up in 4th place in the M35+ group.

Orienteering race 14:17 [4] 2.1 km (6:48 / km)
shoes: Mudclaw O+340

NAOC - Green Lakes Park - Sprint 1 - Fairly clean run and felt like I had a strong run - but the results show otherwise

Orienteering race 23:49 [4] *** 3.5 km (6:48 / km)
spiked:27/27c shoes: Mudclaw O+340

NAOC - Green Lakes Sprint #2 - I think I did a little better on this run even though I lost 30-45 seconds after rolling my ankle approaching the 2nd control. I actually thought for a minute I was done for the weekend, but things loosned up by control #4. Overall, I was unimpressed with my results from the sprints.
