ahr:132 max:165 slept:9.0 shoes: xa pro3d ultra black

v long run round Tampere. the quickest way to see a city, run it.
stopped often to take pictures.
didn't feel like 25km - but i am sure i will feel it tonight and tomorrow. prob my last run for a while with lots of travel and work visits planned for the next week.

run 31:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:10 / km) +35m 5:01 / km
ahr:152 max:178 slept:5.0 shoes: montrail

nice to actually run for a change instead of stumbling through the undergrowth and then relocating.
along the shoreline in Tampere. probably went a bit fast for a recovery run - but it was very flat - total climb 35m.
tomorrow will be a longer slower run.

orienteering 1:15:00 [3]
shoes: Oroc 280 1

watch messed up on me so not sure about the details.
was the last session of the training camp in the forest. Went well and not so well. 2 controls i kept Nick waiting a long time. The others were ok. At least the last control went well. WOC is going to be seriously tough this year navigation wise. it is easy to really mess up and spend 20 minutes relocating... the long is definitely not going to happen for me.

orienteering 2:00:00 [3] 11.0 km (10:55 / km)
shoes: Oroc 280 1

tough session - one control really gave us a hard time.
finished really well though. will put a map here one day.
feeling like an orienteer, but these forests are something else.
4 PM

orienteering 1:40:00 [3] 8.0 km (12:30 / km)
shoes: Oroc 280 1

tough session - cold with snow sill on the ground and no controls in the forest. Am going to sleep well tonight. again - one day i will put the map here of where we went. got to get a pic of the map first to put the tracks onto.

orienteering 38:00 [3] ***** 2.0 km (19:00 / km)
ahr:152 max:180 spiked:4/6c slept:7.0 shoes: Oroc 280 1

The best day orienteering ever. in teh snow in 5 degrees - can you believe it is 1st June in France!!!
Pity nick didn't want to go out so I couldn't spend too long in the forest while he waited int eh car. I just did the 6 closest controls for the training day. They are going to leave the contols out for tomorrow so we can go back there - so two sessions planned for tomorrow then.
I am getting much better - choosing the difficult lines to get to the controls - but still battling with the detail in the circle. The visibility is so low that getting to the circle doesn't imply finding the control.
really fun day out. I almost hope there is still snow on teh ground tomorrow.
pics and video on the blog later this evening.

orienteering 1:54:00 [3] **** 7.0 km (16:17 / km)
ahr:146 max:174 spiked:7/10c slept:8.0 shoes: Oroc 280 1

very wet day out.
check out the blog for detail - http://rsaorienteers.blogspot.com/
was a long jog to the start - about 30 mins - so we didnt actually go to the start.
Nick and I started together - went to 1 together then went in different directions to 2. Nick says he saw me but i never saw him again. I took the north road and Nick went straight to 3 then we bumped into each other ont eh way to 4 and decided to change the order of running.

we went 1,2,3,4,9,8,7,6,5,10,11 then back to the car.
9 was more or less done together then i took a wrong route to 8 but met nick again at 7. he went high and i went low along the faster path. The rest was together but not. different route choices but ending at the controls at similar times. I suspect he was waiting for me at times.
A much better day out than yesterday - I now feel more like an orienteer and it confirms the need to do a training camp pre WOC - especially this year. All the contours don't freak me out any more, the green sections still do however. I am contemplating a loupe (that is a magnifying glass for you plebs). Especially since Thierry said he uses one in his blog post earlier this week. That way i can actually count re entrants and see the difference between a depression and hill on the map.
