Event: Calophylla

10 AM

Orienteering race 55:37 [5] 8.8 km (6:19 / km) +253m 5:32 / km
shoes: Puma Faas 250 Trail

H1 at Calophylla. Not very focussed at the start after talking to Andre and Adrian for a while but managed to get it together by the time I got to the first and hit it pretty well. All went pretty smoothly technically and happy with my route choices which were generally straight with little deviations to get out of the rocks faster. I don't remember losing any time apart from a few seconds here and there on micro route choices. Got a little distracted by seeing Andre leaving 12 as I came in but quickly worked out that he must be looking for 8 which was about 300m away.

Didn't feel good at all physically but didn't have much success trying to convince myself to back off. Had a few walk breaks but not as many as I should have. Did feel a bit stronger than last week in some ways and encouraged to only be a couple of minutes behind Henry and Tomas. Maybe still an outside chance next week if I have a good day and they don't.

Running 45:00 [3] 7.0 km (6:26 / km)
shoes: Puma Faas 300 Black

Ran up to Hale oval and back on the sand tracks. Stopped at Rosalie Park to give the left hip a bit of a stretch while a shower passed over. Did a few drills and strides at Hale oval and had a brief chat to Raf who was coaching one of his groups (including Alyson) there. Raf quizzed me about Henry a bit and told me he has been too busy to race but is healthy and hoping to get back into some racing over the summer.
The hip never really freed up but didn't get any worse either. Not showing much sign of improvement yet but I don't think it will stop me from racing.

Running 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Puma Faas 300 Black

Short run in KP after work. Left hip is stuffed, stopped for a stretch after 10 minutes which didn't help much but it didn't get any worse. Saw Andrew Brooker half way through and ran with him for a while, he is aiming to get back under 4:30 for 1500m this summer. Feeling the outside of right knee a bit again but not as bad as after rogaine. Feet not too bad.
