My most frustrating run of the week.
I didn't read the map properly on the approach to 1. I was focussing on the rockfaces and mis-interpreted them. If I had paid more intention to the contours and watercourses it should have been straight forward.
2.5 mins lost on #1 and lost overall by 78 seconds.
After that I got into the map and was much smoother. I also lost another minute when not reading the map properly on the approach to 9.

I seemed to have missed some of the contour detail on the map where there is a black screen on top. I need to focus more on the contours in these areas.

Good run and mostly clean. I was able to read the map and pick my way through the gold mining sections well.
Rob just had too much speed for me in the rough forest.

Great to re-visit an old area. Still very high quality and fun orienteering.
Also a very scenic jog to the start over the old railway bridge across the dam wall.
A lovely sunny day. The last time I visited this start area was for a Winter Classic in the 90s with 2 short distance races. I recall it was snowing at times during the day.

Orienteering Grand Prix
M45A
Mass start format

Fast, hilly and slippery.
I had a good start, but from 3 I mostly just tried to keep in touch with Matt Crane who started in the M40A field at the same time.

Good spectator format, but 95% running, 5% technical skill
