A rainy, cold morning. I really enjoyed this course, despite the inclement weather!

1 - Poor route choice.
2,3 - A lot of hesitation. Not really sure why.
8 - I was following a couple people and not watching my compass, always a bad idea... Ended up way down the spur just after 7. Realized what I had done when I hit the trail. Corrected from there. Lost quite a bit of time.
11 - Poor route choice. And my legs had nothing left in them on the hills.

Fun weekend of orienteering! Between West Point and this weekend, I'm quite happy with my improvements in reading the map in rocky terrain.

Red: 6.4 km, 320 m of climb

Great weather for the first day of Troll Cup. I really enjoyed the woods. Those hills were brutal though! I was pretty happy with my navigation. The goal for this weekend was to always maintain map contact, so I made sure to slow down and figure out where I was whenever I lost contact. It only happened a few times, and definitely helped minimize errors. I am overall getting faster, it's just a rather slow process.

5 - Crossed the trail and was confused by the rocks. Hesitated as I made sense of where I was.
7 - Poor route choice.
9 - That hill was not fun. I wasn't paying much attention to my map since I just had to climb the huge hill, so I lost a little time at the top figuring out where I had come out.
13 - Stopped thinking since I was so close to the finish and took the wrong trail....
3 PM

Orienteering 1:14:49 [3] 3.37 mi (22:12 / mi) +305m 17:20 / mi
14c shoes: Salomon Speed Cross 4

Downhill intervals at Earl's Trails with Tori. The downhill parts were fun, the uphill to the starts not so much :) I did three intervals, and we alternated who started first each time. The first 2 went really well. I started to lose focus on the 3rd. I was confused by some extra trails around 21/22 and then took a roundabout route to 24. Decided to call it a day at that point and jogged back to the car. Thanks to Greg for the course!

Climbing 45:00 [3]

Set a goal of finishing 10 routes. It was tight with the time I had, but I was successful. Hardest was a V4-6.

Run 43:43 [3] 5.2 mi (8:24 / mi) +96m 7:57 / mi
shoes: Ravenna 8

Stopped at the north branch of the Montour trail on my way home from work. It was nice, all gravel. Ran hard every other mile. It started raining on the way back and I was soaked by the end. But it was warm and everything is turning green!!
