Checked out a new section of the NCT near the Ohio border. When we pulled in we thought it was unlikely we would see a single person because it felt very remote, but by the time we left the parking lot was overflowing! One of the nicer days this spring, so I’m sure that’s part of it. I decided I was still feeling a little beat up even after almost two light weeks, so I decided ahead of t8me I wasn’t going to tackle the full marathon distance with Sydney, even if I was feeling physically good, because it’s the mental struggle that would undoubtably hit before the finish. We planned an out and back starting In the middle son could stop at the car, and it also maximized the trail sections over road stretches. I really really enjoyed the first 4ish miles from the parking lot, just some really nice trails and woods through the game lands. It wasn’t quite As nice once we were on the private trail right of ways, but still a very runnable trail. On the way back we took a short detour up to the top of a hill to witness Indian rock. There wasn’t any historical signage, but an obviously carved rock presumably from native Americans. I called it quits when we arrived back at the car at about half marathon distance. Still felt really good, which was the goal.

I set up a chair by the river in the sun and ate a picnic lunch while playing Switch d waiting for Sydney. It was still a little chilly out for sitting, so after about an hour and a half I was chilled. I decided to run out to meet up with Syd and finish her run with her. It had definitely warmed up! Legs felt good and the mental and physical break was nice. I do need to keep reminding myself that after a 13/17 mile day I shouldn’t feel lazy, even if Sydney did so much more....
