ACT League long distance at Picaree Hill. Legs really tired today, could feel on the way to #1 that I was going to suffer and I struggled a lot on the hills. That said, I had a decent run. I tried to stick to the straight line and minimise climb. Did that okay: Craney ran 500m shorter than me again but given it was 10km it was only 1/2 of the difference between our routes yesterday. Not sure I have the skills, and definitely not the confidence, to run as straight as he does. Biggest error was a 1min parallel error at #3 that I picked up pretty quickly but only after dropping down a few contours, and bits and pieces at a few controls but nothing bigger than 20s; maybe dropped a couple of min all up.
Realised only after I finished that the map was 1:15K not 1:10K ... so used to running longs at local events on 1:10K. Explains why I thought the contour features were under-mapped anyway!
End of a big week for me, looking forward to a rest tomorrow.
