QLD Sprint Champs at QUT Kelvin Grove. Supposedly a home ground advantage but in reality I don't ever go to the parts of the campus we used or into the adjacent schools so I didn't really have an advantage. It was pretty nice course with a good mix of short technical legs, long legs with tricky route-choice, and some more open running legs. I was running and navigating okay - one of my better efforts so far this year - but made one critical mis-read of the map which significantly affected legs #1, #19, and the finish leg, and made a bad route choice on #3. Could have lost a couple of minutes I reckon but will have to wait for the splits. Good runs by Kezza, Olly, and Kurt.

Slept-in and missed the Cyclones long run and, though it took a while, I worked up the motivation to go by myself. Decided to try to find my way into a little strip of bush between Chapel Hill and the freeway and then make my way through ANZAC Park and from there up onto Coot-tha via Slaughter Falls, and back down Honeyeater into Chapel Hill. I also figured the rest of the gang might head to or through park and I might run into them.

I found a trail at the end of Clarina St and while it was only about 500m it was a very nice little single track. It led me north along the west side of the freeway until I could cross under into Moore Park. I'll have to remember this variation - there might be a Cyclones run in it too.

Felt pretty good today and like I've gained some strength from last weekend's orienteering. This run felt well within my limits which shows some improvement. I concentrated on keeping my abs relaxed during the run and that worked until the last few kms. My impression was that relaxed abs led to increased load on my quads and glutes so they got a good workout. Had to push myself up the last few hundred metres of the trail from Slaughter Falls - the stairs do me in as usual.

Running (Commute) 50:00 [3] 9.8 km (5:06 / km) +100m 4:51 / km

Commute from home to Roma St. Basically followed my cycling route without dropping all the way down to Moggil Rd. Had planned to run on the nice tracks into Anzac Park but missed the little that I thought came off the bike path and so just followed the bike path. Got tired pretty quick - I'm not accustomed to running with a bag - and struggled a bit with running form as I tired.
