Orienteering race (Sprint) 16:49 [5] 2.4 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: Asics DS Trainer 13

Cyclones RaceHQ sprint at St Peters in Indooroopilly. Had a good warm up in the run to the event, I was feeling good, and keen to have a good run to make up for a undistinguished series so far (1 good run, 1 crap run, and 1 DNF). And I made up for it somewhat but several fairly significant mistakes meant it wasn't a stellar time though just good enough for 2nd place, 40s behind Kieran. I don't mind too much as my speed was pretty good (especially for the amount of training I've done, ie, none), it was a tricky and fun area, and nice courses by Olly. Oh and I beat Rachel!

Mistakes were 20s at #2 due to inattention, a bit wobbly and slow, 5s, on #5, about 30s at #7 in the tricky courtyard area, 20s on #10 after getting confused by parallel long legs just like at UQ a few weeks ago and running toward #18, then a little hesitation at #17.

Rolled my right ankle going down some stairs later in the course and it's a bit sore now unfortunately but not too bad and I reckon it'll recover pretty quickly.

Looking at the map afterward I discovered that none of the green mapped in the school is out-of-bounds garden bed like I assumed and that opened up a few micro-route choices that I hadn't considered during the race.

Running distance 3.3km.
