Note

Spent half the day at Ikea, so I can't call it a rest day ... Alway make sure you have a car before heading to Ikea because public transport, flat packs and a store on the other side of the city don't mix well.

Note
(rest day)

Jogged to & from the local shops for some supplies this morning and felt tired. Legs sore as much from the yoga as from yesterday's intervals. Walked around some shops with Megan which helped everything recover a bit.

Running intervals 23:00 [4] 5.5 km (4:11 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Empire

Lunchtime session along the Bow River. 5 x 3 min with 2 min float. Reps run at approx. 3:45 min/km and 92% max HR. Pretty much the first time I've ever done an interval session. My previous 'training' lacked much and I sorely need more speed.

Running warm up/down 27:00 [1] 3.1 km (8:43 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Empire

Warm up/down for intervals with stretching

Yoga 1:00:00 [3]

First yoga effort in about a year. Felt good but was hard work. Running does nothing for arm and shoulder strength, huh?

Orienteering race 41:54 [5] ** 5.8 km (7:13 / km) +185m 6:14 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Empire

Event on Nose Hill, mostly open with patches of green. Open areas are covered in a thick carpet of grass and undergrowth which really saps your strength & speed. I put in some nice splits early but tired in the 2nd half heading uphill and into the wind. Lost about 1 min in a dumb mistake on last control and maybe another 30s in little mistakes and poor route choice.

Cycling warm up/down 48:30 [3] +180m

Riding to and from O event.

Running (Intervals (sort of)) 40:00 [4] 6.3 km (6:21 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Empire

Wanted to do an 6 x 3 min interval session, but knee felt a little funny after first one and took a break to stretch it out. It felt okay after that and I did another 2 x 3 min with 2 min floats before having to head back to the office. Unfortunately, I'm not an academic ...
