Trek/geocache --> packraft --> trek. Proving that geocaching is a sport of luck, I found one that Brent couldn't.

Leg 6 of the Lockdown - AKA, that time geocaching made me cry.

In 2013, broots and I almost did an expedition race in the Czech Republic. In preparation, we bought roller blades, because the race included two blading legs (totaling about 60km if I recall!). We never used them - broots' still have the tags on them - but I figured I'd use this leg to start training in case we ever end up in the CR again.

I was by no means fast, but the blading, at least, was smoother than I expected. I also hit up two geocaches, bringing my total to seven. The second was a tiny magnet on a bridge - relatively speaking, an easy find. The first nearly crushed me, but I eventually did find it - in bare feet, because rolling blading through a grassy/rocky amphitheater seemed ill-advised.

Three more to go...

Lockdown stage 2 - bushwhack, otherwise known as Geocaching Blues.

Had plans to start with the mtn bike this morning, but when broots said last night that he thought he could finish his Philly bike challenge today, I decided to push it to tomorrow so I can course test that. Instead, I headed into Wiss for the bushwhack leg. Wiss is known for its great trails. But between those trails, there's plenty of nettles, poison ivy, and deadfall if you know where to look :p

Plan was to knock out as many geocaches as I could. Searched for seven, found five. Fun morning, punctuated by several exercises in frustration, even for found caches. Broots happened to call when I was searching for one, so he pulled out his app and shared how he would puzzle it out. When that didn't work, he decided he wanted in on the fun, so he threw the kids in the car and met me a few minutes later. We searched together and finally found the cache - a 1.5-inch capsule hanging in a tree that I'd walked by and looked at about 247 times already.

Paused by watch for a bit for a planned telehealth visit with my asthma doc. He was entertained.
