ORIENTEERING ◪ 40:00 [3]
shoes: Teva #2

The Moook and the Lad went training at Kooyoora, so I went up there and checkout some of the terrain that will be used for the local event next weekend out on the Spur

ORIENTEERING ◪ 20:00 [3]
shoes: Teva #2

Collected controls from todays local event

Friday May 30, 2008 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ (Mandurang Reserve) 1:00:00 [3] 8.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Teva #2

Primary Schools Champs, put out the controls at 1st light, bought them in after it was all over. 380 entries today for this event, no one disappeared, which is a plus, good to see the schools I'm been helping having success, Goornong and Maldon both in the top 3 places, fastest times of the day was 23 mins for 2.9 k, not bad for some grade 6's and 13 mins for 1.7 k from grade 5's, both groups hadn't done any Orienteering till this year

MTB (Spring Gully Creek) 30:00 [3] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Collected the controls from the other session that was on today

Thursday May 29, 2008 #

shoes: Nike Zoom

Early morning lap of the Res

ORIENTEERING ◪ (Spring Gully Creek) 1:00:00 [3] 7.0 km (8:34 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Putting out controls for school group, then bring them in, and out again in the evening for tomorrow's session as I wont have time in the morning

Wednesday May 28, 2008 #

RUN warm up/down 9:00 [3] 1.85 km (4:52 / km)
shoes: Teva #2

Pry to intervals

RUN intervals 20:00 intensity: (10:00 @3) + (10:00 @5) 5.46 km (3:40 / km)
shoes: Teva #2

Decided to do this in my Teva's as they feel a little lighter than my Nike's.
Wanted to do 120m per 30 secs in float and 150m in speed part, did 380m, then 440, so was on target, and did the same again, so going to plan, then the 1 mins, 250, 290, 240, 290, was still on pace as I turned, 250, 300, 240, 290, now the 30 secs, 130, 150, 130, 150, 130, 150, 130, 140, starting to slow down, 15 secs, 560m in total over the 2 mins, so worked out fine. If anything, need to go a little easier in the float and a bit faster in the effort, but, I'm not complaining, very happy with this session

RUN warm up/down 5:00 [3]
shoes: Teva #2

Bit rired, so only did 5

Sunday May 25, 2008 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ race (Plenty River) 1:13:03 [4]
shoes: Teva #2

Much nicer than I 1st thought it would be, glad that I went. 1st control was short, under 100m, didn't loose much time, just very careful. Rest of the course went by with out to much problem till the last few, seemed to fumble around and lost a few minutes. Should have got under 70.

Saturday May 24, 2008 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ (Smiths Reef) 24:51 [3] 4.2 km (5:55 / km)
shoes: Teva #2

Local event, collected some controls after it was all over

Friday May 23, 2008 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ 1:20:00 [1]
shoes: Nike Zoom

2 school groups today, up at 6.30 (could just read the map) putting out controls at Spring Gully Creek, then out to Fiddlers Green to do the same, took Eaglehawk School around there course, pulled in the controls, back to SG Crk for the next group, and collected those controls as well. Got back home at 1.30, not a bad morning's work

Thursday May 22, 2008 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ (Diamond Hill) 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Nike Zoom

Put out and bought in controls for Schools group, easier by foot than bike, you can walk to the next control getting the flag and punch ready to hang, cant do things on the move on a bike

Wednesday May 21, 2008 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ 40:00 [2]

Checking control sites and map for Primary School Champs at Mandurang

Monday May 19, 2008 #

MTB (Diamond Hill) 1:30:00 [3]

Put out controls, removed them, and rode around checking for lost students at a schools session. Its easier checking PPL on the MTB , but I think it would be quicker to put out the controls by foot, will have to try that next time

Sunday May 18, 2008 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ race (WOC Selection Long) 1:56:05 [4] 13.75 km (8:27 / km) +530m 7:05 / km
shoes: Teva #2

Not a good one, slow to 2, then lost time, Fatrat came through so sat with him till the spectator, then slow again up the next lot of climb, knew I wasn't going to well, rubbed in a bit when Cath Chalmers ran through me, saw Nick at 16, tried to get him to run back with me, but he was even slower, Kathryn came through just as the downhill started, had lots of common controls till the end. Not my best one, but then I think Saturdays races were better than I expected

Saturday May 17, 2008 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ race (WOC Selection Sprint) 17:16 [5] 2.73 km (6:19 / km) +85m 5:28 / km
shoes: Teva #2

Took the only way to 1, got 2 easy, careful on 3, 4, 5 before putting the foot down, got caught in rock near 10. Should have got the 'Mook' as I was in front with the last to go, but tripped over in the marsh. Had a faster time than him for the finish shute (-:

ORIENTEERING ◪ (WOC Selection Middle) 40:07 [5] 4.92 km (8:09 / km) +135m 7:10 / km
shoes: Teva #2

Careful on 1, was under a little, saw Blair at 2, scrappy at 4, ran straight pass 8, saw it but thought it was to early, how wrong you can be, back with Blair, scrappy again at 10, 12, 15, 17. Not to bad, running better than I thought I would. Need to do something about my vision, very hard to read the map at times, even harder on the run. )-;

RUN warm up/down 40:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Various times of the day, warmed up well pry to and after the races, good to do things right

Tuesday May 13, 2008 #

RUN warm up/down 8:30 [3] 1.8 km (4:43 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Been up in the Shep area for the last few days working with my brothers, so when the time came to go training, I ran from Johns place to Robs as a warm up.

RUN intervals 20:00 intensity: (10:00 @3) + (10:00 @5) 5.0 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Drove a truck all day, didn't finish till 8pm, so ran in the dark, on the flatest, straightest road you can get. At least it was bitumen, so footing was secure, out 2.47k, back 2.53k, so 5k. Not my best effort, but good seeing the conditions

RUN warm up/down 8:30 [3] 1.8 km (4:43 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Back to were I started

Sunday May 11, 2008 #

RUN long 1:32:00 [3] 18.0 km (5:07 / km)

YM run with the Johnny, Paul, Rosco, Ben and Perry. Pace was good, even if we did go a little faster than last week

Saturday May 10, 2008 #

MTB 9:00 [2] 2.2 km (4:05 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Rode to the CC run

RUN warm up/down 10:00 [3] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

1 lap of the course

RUN race 22:37 [5] 6.0 km (3:46 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Started at 1435, even though it was advertised as starting at 1445, so wasn't as organised as I would have liked, didn't have time to change my shoes. Bit slow out of the start as I went to fast last week, saw my sister up ahead, so thought I better go a little faster. Similiar result to last week, Charles to good, Johnny as well, got Peter but had a good tussle with Craig. Was kept honest as my sister was just there as well

RUN 12:00 [1] 2.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Pulled down bunting and flags, bit hard to run carrying some of this stuff

MTB 8:30 [2] 2.2 km (3:52 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Rode home

Thursday May 8, 2008 #

MTB 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)

Put out controls at Spring Gully Creek, rode around helping students and bought in controls, Wondered if it easier/quicker to put out controls by foot

RUN long 40:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Well OK, not long, but it is my long run for the week.

Up over DH (exactly 3 k from my place going via GC) down the other side, back around to Burns, then SG oval via the further side, then SG Crk reserve, home via Macc's place. Still did 100 mins for the day

Wednesday May 7, 2008 #

MTB 30:00 [3] 8.0 km (3:45 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Rode to Rosiland Park and Return

Note

Took school group at Rosiland Park, kept the GPS on while putting out controls, following kids, control security and bringing in controls. Total distance covered was 7 k, now I know why I feel a little tired

Note

Today was meant to be a long run, but as I'm feeling a little tired, decided to do it tomorrow.

Tuesday May 6, 2008 #

RUN warm up/down 15:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Pry to intervals, had time to go a little futher this week, felt good

RUN intervals (Mona) 20:00 intensity: (10:00 @3) + (10:00 @5) 5.05 km (3:58 / km)

Didn't get to go as far as a fortnight ago, so a little disapointed in that.
Last time I did 2800m in the efforts, this week only 2700, but I did lots better in the rest, last time it was 2270, this week 2330. The aim is to do 3k on and 2.3k off, see how I go next time

RUN warm up/down 10:00 [3] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Did 5 mins at Wildflower Drive, then drove to the track to watch the boys do there session and to do the next 5 mins

Monday May 5, 2008 #

Sunday May 4, 2008 #

RUN long 1:40:00 [3] 19.0 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

YM run with Johnny, Paul and my Sister, I ran from my place to make it a little longer so got in a nice longer run. I tripped and fell twice, they say things come in three's, hope there are no more tumbles

WALK 30:00 [1] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)

Checking out control sites in Spring Gully reserve for a Schools event

Saturday May 3, 2008 #

RUN 16:00 [2] 3.0 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Race day today, so easy early run before Breakfast

RUN warm up/down (Lardner Park) 15:00 [3] 2.9 km (5:10 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Checking out the course, took a tumble when I tried to hurdle the fence that was on the course, may need to use my hands during the race

RUN race (Lardner Park) 30:59 [5] 8.0 km (3:52 / km)
shoes: Teva #2

AV race at Lardner Park, it was wet, green and slippery, bit of a change from Bendigo. Garmin got it as 7.91 k, once I downloaded it to SportsTrack, it measured 7.88, maybe if I measure it again, it will be shorter )-;

Bit of a tough start as there were all these pretenders wanting to be on the front row, so had to go out fast and wide to get a good position, soon realised I was going a little to fast, and there was no point in trying to run with the Keely boys, Morty came pass at 1k, as did Johnny Maher, tried to not let John get to far ahead. Got into the 2nd lap and noticed Morty, he was starting to stuggle a little at 6k, moved on and thought I had a chance against Johnny, but he had me covered and got in 5 secs in front

RUN warm up/down (Lardner Park) 10:00 [2] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Teva #2

Very slow warm down with Johnny, watching the womens race
