With Jude for a morning run from our hotel (wonderful, recommended) in Heidelberg (also recommended highly, thanks Ali Crocker) towards the Philosopher's walk. Never made it as we had lots of mountain to climb along the way, and had to get back to catch the ICE train to Frankfurt, then the 8 hour flight home............
Excellent dog and owner encounter.
As I have said previously, I think dogs and children are much better behaved in the European countries I have recently visited, for example;
As Jude and I were coming back off the mountain and nearing houses, we came upon a young woman, her 5 year old, and their dog, a medium size hound looking fellow.
He was sniffing along the path ahead of us, not paying us any attention as we approached, but the woman saw us coming and immediately called the dog. He stopped in his tracks and glanced up at her. She then raised her index finger.
The dog promptly sat down. Quite unconcerned as we jogged by.

Impressive by any measure.

Note

Left Strasbourg, France this morning. Nothing impressive there.
Dropped off in Heidelberg, recommended by Ali Crocker.
Had booked a nice small hotel. Third floor hike up, overlooking rooftops, with "french bed" in small but nice room.
Rode tram into town, lunch at train station, then off to the castle, and an interesting tour during which I learned that I don't know squat about European history.
I now know that they fought constantly and the royals intermarried a lot.

I had to get a run along the paved paths through the vineyards before we left. Got no takers to accompany me.
Would have liked to take a dip in the lake, but maybe next time.

Very disappointed in my run. Lost places in the chase.
Just a crummy way to end the trip.

What can I say?
Today Icould not find the controls when I was within 20 meters, I ran several legs multiple times.
The terrain made yesterday's look like a race track, I even got to experience the "leg goes into crevice up to your crotch, without touching bottom" .
People were wandering everywhere, with gangs of H60's hanging together and discussing their location.
Pretty much the worse terrain I have ever encountered .

Mt Pile,Hmm what can I say about this area???? Everyone thought it was worse than yesterdays!
The map looked like WY, but the white woods were rocky with ankle breaking fissures in the rock.
A good course to walk.
6th today, but 9 minutes back of 1st!.

If you take alook at the Garmin map, you will see the little town of Eppes where we are staying in a wine makers cottage overlokking Lake Geneva.
This is one of the most beautiful spots I have been in the world, and is Infact a Unesco World Heritage site.
