First training in Norway, taking it very easy because the cold's still hanging around a little. Physically about as tough as I was expecting but technically a bit easier, pleasantly surprised by the visibility and how well the shapes made sense. Just got to build up the speed now and still plenty of learning to be done on micro-routechoices and understanding/crossing the cliffs.

Quote Teemu: "We'll do this completely on tracks/roads" so I wore shorts and mileage shoes. Nek minute it's more than 50% terrain, classic.
Coming down with a little bit of a cold so will have a couple of days off to shake it off so I can train well in Norway.

On the way back down south we stopped off at one of the jukola training maps. Broke it up into 4x~2.5km intervals (plus includes run to the start). Really fun terrain with huge slabs of bare rock - the cascades of the north. Made a couple of little errors on the vague areas below the rocky hills but overall pretty happy (although not particularly challenging terrain).

Real nice hike up on the fells this morning then we went for an easy training at a forest on the side of a mountain on the way home. Teemu and I jogged around together just trying to make sense of the slightly dodgy kartapullatin map and making plenty of mistakes as a result. I actually really like orienteering though

Got hold of some maps for an upcoming local event and added some extra controls to make it a bit more techy. Really cool negative terrain but map was a little funny and pretty slow/rocky underfoot. Orienteering getting better, trying to be less reliant on compass. Still haven't mastered the art of spotting which bits of marsh are safe to cross, ended up waste deep a couple of times
