Oceania Relay Championships
I ran 2nd leg (Simon 1st, Toph 3rd, and went out in 2nd place about 30secs down on 1st place- Alessio from Italy. I ran pretty well perfectly which was good for confidence. The legs felt better than previous days but the terrain was quite easy farmland and not much technical difficulty. I had Alessio in front at the same gap pretty much the whole race. I got a bit closer on occasions but he had 2 shorter splits which made it harder.
Toph ran a good final leg and finished about 2mins down on the Austria/Italians.

Oceania Long Distance Championships
Well most guys were either skipping or starting without the intention of finishing todays long distance race. But since I was defending champion I was pretty keen to finish and at least have a go. But neither the body or the mind cooperated much. Legs felt very heavy again and I was struggling to concentrate, mostly because I was thinking about how tired I felt.
I was a little off to the right to 1. 2 was short and pretty easy. I quite enjoyed the leg to 3 which weaved through some gullies and saddles in nice pine forest. But I ran straight past the control without seeing it. I then saw Flynn back up the hill but he hadn't found it either. But the time I did Craney was right behind me. I did my best to hang onto him to 7 but he was easily pulling away and my ego was taking a hit and I just felt slow. Got back in front into the control circle at 8 but then took a shocking route to 9. Decided to run around the hill using the road and open fields and small track at the end. But the main problem was all the time I lost exiting 8 and going through the gully to the west. It was jungle and steep and by the time I got out to the road I'd used any energy I had available for the day. Ran past the finish and got 9 and 10 before walking back to the finish and calling it a day.
Not really sure why I feel so bad and struggle to concentrate. Have found a massage tonight and hopefully that will help improve the legs before the final world cups on Sunday.
